This is not my auction but I spotted it while browsing.
It's definitely unique but I don't know if it's $1800 unique. A lot of really cool guns can be purchased for that amount of money.

Saw this on another forum. How this was priced out is beyond me. A $300 gun with $1500 in improvements?

I guess it's possible. Cylinder & Slide charges $1340 for their top-of-the-line Kahr custom package (http://www.cylinder-slide.com/index.php?app=ccp0&ns=prodshow&ref=911&sid=6bnwzn7z28vwdkmm6dysae24imgbv2ps) (gun not included, or even return shipping). I won't be buying that either.

I'd fork over some extra dough for a 1911 personally carried by John Browning but I'd never heard of Ned Christiansen before seeing that auction. After a bit of research I still wasn't bidding.

That Blem on PIC 26/27 was where "Ned Christiansen actually ran out of toilet tissue and used his Kahr, hence the high value of this particular piece":p
Who the hell is Ned Christiansen, anyway?

Funny:D

This is a well used $300 gun. Nothing more IMHO.

Now if it had been owned and shot by Bawanna...hmmm

Oh I don't know, I think the checkering on the frontstrap and custom magwell add some value to it but definitely not $1500 dollars. Especially in that condition. I think the seller is putting way too much stock in the reputation (or lack thereof) of the previous owner. Apparently he's got a pretty good gunsmithing outfit in Michigan but I don't think Ned Christainsen is a household name for gun owners.

The seller should have at least thrown some new grips and a new front sight on there. That would have gone a long way to improving the gun's appearance. That front sight looks bubba'ed, not like something a professional gunsmith would have done.

It looks to be an abused gun. $300 would be highway robbery.

It looks like a pretty well carried firearm. There looks to be a lot of wear on the frame and the slide looking at the picture. Nothing special in my opinion, just another person over pricing their firearms.

Ned Christiansen is a very well known smith. As far as I know about his work there's things on that pistol that aren't seen.
Would I buy that piece ? No, because I couldn't afford it.

Go here to check out his work and some other artists of metal works

Well, looking like he's the God Of Kahr custom work I stand by the toilet paper comment and agree that alone makes his Kahr worth $1700, Calling all SUCKERS!

Pretty sure my K9 was a Cylinder and Slide job way back.

Here you can see the 11 degree muzzle the stainless guide rod and some melting...

Here you see the magazine well has been beveled some...

Here you see a trigger that has been polished and recontoured and the stippling of the front of the grip frame. Also some more of the melt job...

I'm selling a slightly used Kahr CM9 once owned by the infamous Muggsy of Kahr Talk fame. This gun was only dropped twice on the concrete floor of an indoor range which gave it it's distinctive personality. I'm asking a mere $50,000 for this one of a kind classic. Serious inquiries only.

Cylinder and Slide marked the guns they worked on, on the slide.

I can look beyond the wear of a carry piece, it can be refinished. Our stainless, custom, edc K9's show worn rubber grips, tarnished grip crews, scratches, worn sight bluing, etc.

There's some really nice work done on this pistol,

Angled cut & beveled front of dust cover ( which gives me an idea for our K9's), precise checkering, welded on mag well, insert at the rear tang of the frame ?, Custom made rear sight, reshaped ejection port, beveled front of slide.
I don't understand the polished left hand upper grip panel.

These are things I see, but like any well renowned pistolsmith, I'm sure there are things done that aren't seen or appreciated by buyers, to improve functionality.

People will buy a custom gun at a premium price so they don't have to wait years to have one built. Unfortunately this one is a Kahr and IMHO won't sell quickly. If it were a 1911 by Ned Christansen, it probably would be gone already, to an in the know gun enthusiast.

The seller is P.T. Partners, a well known retailer of custom firearms from America's most respected gunsmiths and custom shops

http://www.pt-partners.com/

Is the fact that it was one of Christansen's carry pieces or that it's a 1986 made Kahr add to the price ? It's not worth it to me only because of this and not the workmanhip.
