View Full Version : Sources for a flap holster?

Any recommendations on manufacturers of flap type holsters that cover/protect the entire gun?
When at home, I open carry in a fairly dirty environment (like tractor work) and it cruds up my gun pretty quickly, at least on the outside. I am looking for something to provide better protection than what I have but not interested in high dollar stuff like leather. I currently use a felt lined fabric (cordura?) holster with an extra mag holder. I like it but would prefer something similar but with a flap to keep the debris out.

Uncle Mike's makes one for large frame revolvers.
Triple K makes a leather flap holster that you can find in the $50-$70 range.
eBay would be another source to check.

Thanks a bunch!
I think Barsony will be the choice. I found this one on their site that looks far better for my needs than all the other options.

I field carry in a Barsony shoulder holster. It works fine and was comparatively cheap. Hope you find the same.

I bought the Barsony. It was great when I first got it. But ................
As time went by, my gun started to ride lower and lower in the holster. Now, two months later, the barrel protrudes out the bottom of the holster. So much the the front sight is totally clear of the holster. When I try to draw the gun, the front sight hangs up on the holster. I have contacted Barsony and will see what they come up with for a solution.

That would not work because the gun would sit too high and the flap won't close.
But you may be onto something.:) It looks like one little stitch right at the tip of the arrow below. That would be right below the trigger guard and keep the gun from dropping.

Or, I could just give up all the dirty tractor work (which is going to happen real soon) and go back to my old holster.

Barsony got back to me. Offered to alter the holster or refund my purchase price.
Wish the problem had not occurred, but Barsony treated me fairly professionally when it did.

I've used Kramer horsehide holsters for years. Never used a flap holster but they do make one. I'll vouch for the quality and fit of Kramer stuff.
