I picked up a P40 last week and have run 150 rounds through it. When I was finished, I cleaned it up and loaded it with MagSafe rounds - the thought is I'll leave it at the house Until I can run another 100 or so rounds through it. When I use a magazine with the MagSafe rounds and release the slide, the first three rounds invariably fail to chamber but it seems to work just fine after that. Anyone else have this issue? Just a "break in" issue? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

Dale

If you contact Kahr, they will tell you that you have not shot enough ammo out of it yet.
Does this problem happen with other brands of ammo?

just be the magsafe rounds. If it isn't the most over rated round out there, then I don't know what is. Such an ultra light weight bullet to gain speed , just never has been proven to be the correcrt way to go. Mag Tech ammo is OK but Mag Safe ammo???? Try another brand before panicking etc.

Indeed though the gun needs maybe more rounds down range and I would be doing my break in with fmj ammo and not defense stuff due to the expense. You might want to go to the kahr tech section and hit on the PROPPER PREPPING OF YOR NEW KAHR. Some nice tips in there..

Thanks, I am using the fmj standard ammo for break-in, I just loaded up a mag of the magsafe while the gun is in the house. I haven't fired any of this ammo through it (yet) and probably won't until I'm confident that the chambering failure won't occur. I may just switch to a Corbon (165 grain?) or other load for carry. I guess it is too early to tell. I"ll complete the "break in" this weekend and then see what happens.

not saying that is your problem either, Just that Mag safe is a very poor round, Stick with corbon, but just put some rounds down range, the P40 is just one super semi, IMO .

You might also want to check to see if this issue your having will reproduce itself with your spare magazine also. Try to eliminate the possables..

Well, I was looking at several other carry models. I'm not a Glock fan. Liked the XD SC. Loved the Kimber Super Carry Ultra. Was probably going to do the XD simply because I'd had to shell out the $$ for the Kimber just to tear it up as a daily carry. One of the local SWAT guys just happened to be in the shop and said that, while many of them had started out with the XD/Kimber/Glock, all had switched to the Kahr simply because of the weight and "carry ability"
