Blame it on mid-life crisis but my favorite shooting range just got a little closer: S4/4.2 v8/340bhp/6sp manual/AWD.

I sold a B5 S4 a couple of years ago. It was sweet to drive. Now I have something with more room for the kids. I guess I got to have my mid-life earlier.

Years ago I was on a Porsche showroom when a minivan pulls in the parking lot. Out pops a man followed by a trail of youngsters. They all bounce into the showroom where the man declares; "Look kids...this is what daddy USED to drive."
P.S. You must be nowhere near mid-life Alfonse. Mid-life is when you try to re-live those things you did before the kids. My sister's husband bought a Boxster when he hit his. She was pretty down about it until my dad explained it to her. "At a man's mid-life, he either gets a new car, a new job, or a new wife. You should be happy it's a car."

There's some serious logic in that. Wonder if a couple new guns would fill the void?
My kids have me drained, probably have to be a Kel tec. :(

I started on the kid thing late in life. Since I don't expect to make 120, I'm well into mid life. I did get one of the old, stand-up jetskis this year. I think mid-life for me is doing all the things that looked fun that I somehow missed years ago. Going to try an air chair next. The great thing is with these sports decades past their popularity, the equipment is cheap at this point. A few hundred bucks does it! If you see a geezer on a jet ski....

Those standup jetskis are a kick. Took me forever to manage to actually stand up but they were definitely challenging. I rode a Seadoo many years over at Curlew even after I became a full time sitter. I loved riding those things. My balance ain't too good so I was in trouble when I stopped, I'd just tip over but going was great fun.
I think I dunked all 3 of my kids when they were little. Coming into the beach or a dock, get too slow and kerplunk.
Some of the newer ones I guess you can't hardly tip over, had a new Yamaha over there and 3 guys standing on one side and it didn't turn over. I figure I could turn it over if anyone could.

That was working for me for awhile but I guess my crisis is just a little stronger than that. ;)
P.S -- I almost missed your comment there Colonel. I have my preferences set to ignore any posts that include the words Kel and Tec. Just sayin'. :001_tt2:

Yeah me too, I had to go wash my hands with soap just typing it, awfully glad I didn't say it out loud. Soap taste very bad.
I had to rack my brain for the 4 circles put together but I think it's an Audi. Wait you probably already knew that.
Good choice. I bought a new bicycle ( 751 steel ,Campy fitted) for my mid-life. Then arthritis, and could not ride it.

I got another dog.....maybe I misunderstood mine? [He is the 11 year old "pound puppy" on the right.] His master passed away and he needed a new home.

I can't afford midlife crisis toys, guns will have to do.

Who said anything about toys? ;) I'm putting him to work. 56 cents per mile baby! I figure I need 15000 miles before it blows up and I'm gold.

I guess these count as toys. The Corvette has every competition part made by Chevy - Exhaust, Headers, Cam, Suspension, Cooling, and Brakes. I took it to Road Atlanta a couple of months ago and hit 164 MPH on the back straight before I had to brake for 10a. Not too bad for someone on the wrong side of 70. The SSR has a Corvette LS2 engine but is too heavy to be very fast - it's just a cool ride. I also replaced the Prius last month with a C-Max plug in Hybrid. So far my mileage is averaging 117 mpg and going up. The Prius would only do 60+ and is the dullest car on the road to drive.

You have a very nice ride.
I have had a half dozen Audis over the years and they are a real plus living in Minnesota. The 4.2 engine is a proven performer and entering a cloverleaf freeway on-ramp with your foot to the floor and that car just hunkers down and stays on track is a hoot to say the least.
One word of caution. Watch your tires as winter approaches. My 4.2 A6 came with Dunlop performance tires. Great in hot dry, or wet conditions. Any snow, it was like driving a hockey puck.
Winter tire/wheel combo is a very wise investment.

I had to settle for something a little older, with a few more miles on it. 97 Mercedes E420.

That's a fine looking puppy jeepster. Big ole boy too. Looks like he's merged with his new mate good too. No snarling or big teeth showing at all.

The little girl on left is only 90 pounds and Bosco is 110 lbs. They love each other! Having 2 German Shepards keeps me on my toes, what one don't think of the other does :=]

Mrs. b4 got her car running recently too. So we went from pretty darn boring to halfway cool IMHO.

I drove a 66 pony in High School. Sure wish I still had that car now.

That's a nice one. I was never a Mustang fan, but I was driving one when I arrived in Atlanta over forty years ago, a 66 fastback with a 289 and four speed. I needed it to pull an eight foot U-Haul trailer from Louisville to Georgia. Everything I owned was in that car and trailer and I was $30,000 in debt after an acrimonious divorce that took eighteen months to adjudicate. That was a lot of money when you only made $1000 a month and it took me five years to recover.

Old stuff does bring back memories...old cars, old guns, etc. It's good to keep 'em around if you can.

"acrimonious divorce" ... that sounds bad. Glad you made it through OK.
Even if you're not a pony-car fan, that would have been a great one to hold onto.
