I do feel for the parents for the loss of their daughter, but when you are a co-signer on a loan, ANY loan, you are responsible if there is a default of any kind on that loan.

I've co-signed a couple of loans for the kids and one or two of them have come back to bite me in the backside. No, my kids didn't pass away but I didn't run to the media hoping to find relief.

Agreed. He signed on the dotted line. Time to pay up. Just another example of a whiney beotch wanting sympathy.

My dad didn't co-sign for me and I came out all right. It was probably one of the best things he ever did for me = taught me to be self-reliant. And taught me that borrowing money is a BIG DEAL to be avoided as much as possible.

Other than a house 15 year loan, car 4 year loan borrowing money for non-businesses purposes is the road to ruin. Borrowing money for a vacation is so far beyond ignorant that a person who does it is beyond redemption.

yeah its sad but hey they seem like reasonably intelligent folk. Why didn't they get term life ins policy on their daughter just in case. See this is a CLASSIC example of other peoples fault for NOT MAKING me do something. People talk about being free but I will say it again, most people cannot handle that responsibility. They NEED to be governed. "Why didn't the lender require a life ins policy on this loan?" The better question is why didn't you get one when you cosigned on your daughter's loan.

Wonder what they thought the reason was for the bank requiring a co-sign if it was not to assume the debt.

Nope, they're morons. It's not the government's nor private lenders' responsibility to protect folk from themselves. We gots enough of that already.

Yeah I dig but the guy's gripe is that the debt should be released upon the death of their daughter. I guess they felt that if she were alive that they could help out...er uhhhh no you are right their thoughts were not logical.

Never a borrower or a lender be. Hey, that's kinda catchy. Another muggsy quote worth remembering.
