I was listening to the Downrange Radio podcast this last week and Michael Bane was discussing training, and training to possibly make that 50 yard shot with a pistol if required.
I was on vacation and my Step Dad's friend, who I did not know was a gun guy, asked me about new acquisitions. I showed him pictures of the CW380. His first words were skeptical that much could be hit with it.
While I have had great accuracy at 12-15 yards with the CW380, I have done no serious shooting at distances such as 50 yards. Whe I got home I took a few shots at steel at 50 yards. I made a short 3 minute video of it. I was pleasantly surprised. No warm up shots were taken. With more practice, I could score nearly all hits I bet. I was using the "shoot where you see" aiming technique, instead of traditional aiming.
Hope you enjoy.

It's not the gun, but the man behind the gun. That's something that my father drummed into from a very early age. Very good shooting Dude.

I was pretty well lit. My beautiful Wife has a great laugh, don't you think? We have great times. The two weeks after the 4 wisdom teeth extraction was far less hilarious.

Generally yes but there is a limit. Nobody can make a Bryco or Jennings shoot well, NOBODY. A good shooter can only go so far with a POS weapon. In this case the Kahr is a quality piece but my inference is clear.

If you shoot a perp at 50 yards, he is probably no longer a threat to you, you're going to jail.

I believe the theory is a 50 yard shot on an active shooter, where you may no be able to close the distance, but I understand what you are saying.
I would hope, should that necessity arise, that I had a more substantial firearm than the CW380. My reason for making the video was to show the accuracy potential of this small gun.

Impressive!
"Shoot where you see?" Whazzat? I want to do that.

Or "shoot where you look". It is primarily a shotgun technique, but it translates.

I gotta try that.

The gun/distance may have been stretching the technique a bit. You take a hard focus on the target, not the sights. Mounting of the rifle/pistol is the most critical part of it. In defensive shooting, the focus on the target with a blurred front sight only as a reference , I believe makes me a faster shot, and probably is what makes me partial to open sights.

Unless the perp was shooting at you first and still trying.

It's not the gun, but the man behind the gun.
+1 I shoot my CW40 nearly as accurately as my S&W M&P 40 5" barrel. Not that I'm a tack driver, but it's good to know there's not much difference in accuracy between the two pistols. Just adjusting for the different trigger pulls is the only difference in how I shoot them.
gunpapa, good shooting!

I don't care if you have the most accurate gun in the world. If you don't know how to shoot it you're not going to hit anything. That's all that the saying means. Almost any gun is more accurate than the man shooting it.

When I get any gun, I almost ritualistically acquaint myself with everything about it, so much that it begins to become a part of my physiology when I pick it up. That is a hard thing to translate to new shooters without that dedication, but I feel that dedication is required to excel in any discipline.
