Was curious to how many of you knife nuts are out there..!! I'm sure its most of you guys but would like to see/hear what you're either carrying or what some of your favorites are.. both urban and woodsman
I used to carry either a fixed or folder (sometimes both) all the time, up til about a year ago I haven't really carried one, with the exception of my vic classic on my keychain : )
I have a decent array of knives and have tried a lot over the years but have a few favorites that just 'feel' right..
some of my favs in order of preference (never warmed up to large folders in the pocket)
Folders:
Spyderco Chaparral, Sage 1, Delica 4, para 2 ... Kershaw Skyline, love this little cheapy, if it only had a wire clip= perfection
Fixed urban:
Esee Izula, 3, Hest dpx, BK11 (no doubt any fixed blades crosses over to bush chores)
Fixed woods:
Spyderco Bushcrafter uk, Junglas, BK9, and most always Tramatina Bolo..
or various blades I make (haven't thrown sparks in over a year now)
to keep your attention to this thread you don't have to make a detailed list, and pics are always welcomed... : )

Here's one of the last knives I made for Ethan Beckers Competition, came in third place.. I was hurrying to get it done as I was moving and had procrastinated to the last minute.. Knife was put threw torture test and came back in one piece (some did not), bamboo is harsh on a knife let me just say...

I only own four knives. A buck folding hunter for hunting, a general purpose pocket for, you guessed it, general purpose use and a Carson Design M-16 -032 CRKT for when I run out of bullets. I also have a Chicago Cutlery 12" Bio-Curve Fillet knife for fish cleaning.
I have way to many custom blades to go into at this point....kinda a knife whore. I have primitive folders, short to long fix blades of every possible type jnown to man and many old style fighting blades...many of which are damasscus steel and sharp as a razor.

same here, knife-whore-galore, I have literally a box full of blades, like a moving box... some collector additions from way back, vintage pumas even, I have a fair share of customs not including my own make..
Basically I'm just looking for favorites that you would hand select to carry, or for the bush..
I'm basically just asking for favorites, mine are posted above and those are my go-to blades for the most part..

for example here are a few I had in rotation for a while (pic is about 2yrs old)
from top to bottom, kershaw skyline, buck pro vantage, spyderco sage, delica, and '71 puma jr.
these were part of an edc rotation... I would choose none of these for camp chores

I got a drawer full of them fish fileters. Other than that just utility knives: pocket folders and swiss army knives in all different sizes. The only one that really means anything to me is the Case pocket knife my dad gave me.
I guess I been bitten by the knife bug yet.
I done got bitten by the knife bug about 20 years ago. Lasted a good while. Then I cut my finger and was over it.

Here's one I made some time back from an old file and an Elk tine:

http://i36.tinypic.com/2s7go3o.jpg
Right after quenching it (hadn't ground the tang to shape yet);

My forge at the time (only for heat treatment, I did stock removal) was just some firebricks and pavers stacked together (skillet was for the quench medium):

The heat source is a modified weed burner from Harbor Freight. I replaced the stock burner with a homemade one:

I just got these two beauties from a new friend down Iowa way. Did a little swapping. He made these long ago, said they were in his junk drawer. The damascus is breathtaking. 152 layers. He never sharpened it as he did it just to see if he could. Wanted to keep it pretty and didn't want to cut nobody handling it. But the edge it perfect, straight as a straight arrow (seen a few bent ones). I do dig damascus.
He forged the little hatchet from scratch too. It's just a joy to behold and begs to be hung on my chair someplace. One of those just gotta chop something deals.
And Tiger Maple on both. Gotta love it. Sent me some Tiger Maple wood too. Anxious to play with it too.

These are many of my smaller ones. Autos, Auto Assited and others on the left. Mostly unused, unsharpened Case pockets from the 1970s on the right.

A Jewish Moyle would love those collections!
which reminds me of a joke....
Two little boys are going to the hospital the next day for operations.
The older boy leans over and asks,
"What are you having done?"
The younger boy says, "I'm getting my tonsils out and I'm afraid."
The first boy says, "You've got nothing to worry about, I had that done when I was four. They put you to sleep and when you wake up, they give you lots of Jello and ice cream, it's a breeze."
The second boy then asks, "What are you going in for?"
The first boy says, "Circumcision."
"Whoa!" the smaller boy replies.
"Good luck, buddy. I had that done when I was born, couldn't walk for a year!"

I made that as a kind of "frontier garter knife" for my wife (she had seen some she liked at the SASS Championships in Norco, Ca.). I had planned a long wharncliffe blade, but ended up lifting the point a little as it seemed to fit the flow of the knife. It does work pretty well as a steak knifehttp://www.pic4ever.com/images/91.gif

Great pieces you have there: love the look and craftsmanship. The dag shows real skill (well above my effort). Is that a copper guard on it? File worked?
The hatchet/hawk just looks right, I'm really digging it. Thanks for sharing!

Here's the Barong GB mentioned above. The history is I believe Greg scored it at a flea market?? Swap meet something like that.
Sent it up to me like this for a project. I was still a knife new guy.

I looked around at some links he provided and saw they ran the gammet on handles, usually very ornate, some not so much but almost always with a hook of some sort, so I knew a hook was in order.
This is what I came up with.

It has a very ornate wood sheath for it but I can't find any pictures of it now. I'll have to take some new ones. I have a pile of laundry in the laundry room.
Todays lesson boys and girls is never ever, I mean never have a laundry room between living quarters and your man cave, especially if your in a chair. Fella with legs could climb over easy but chair, not so much.
"Greg,

And downtown, I share this thought in my head all the time. I'm awed all the time.

very nice knife. I am a convert on the VG10 steel. I used to avoid knives with that steel. I broke down and bought one and have to admit that it is now in the top 3 of steels for tactical folder/ pocket knifes 4 inches and smaller blades. Can get a little "chippy" when going for scalpel edging and a little brittle for survival knife.

I do love Khukri's another addiction that Greg started off for me. If you look back on page one and compare to this photo you'll see the sliding wall is getting pretty well maxed out. Some room up top I can't reach, might have to have wife or son hang a few up there.
The third one from the top is the one Greg sent me long ago that lit off my addiction. It's been a lot of fun and learned a ton.
And they make real fine choppers too at times.

My wife cringes everytime she sees a triangle box come through the door. I've saved all those too, might make me a chandelier out in the garage out of them. The lucky part for me is half or probably more of them were gifts or trades for work, that sort of stuff.
I've been very lucky when it comes to khuks.

As you can see, not much of a knife guy............................Spyderco I've been using for fishing, for about 30 years..........cuts through damn near everything, for a cheap knife, it's very good. My mini buck, which is in my pocket always, and my Imperial that I bought at a rummage for $5............I think it was made during the war, because of the thinness of the blade...........brand new, never used. Couldn't pass it up for $5.
