As I have posted in previous threads, I've had problem with nose dives. I've worked on my magazines followers and they now freely move up and down the magazine body. Also, I've removed metal from slide stop area where the follower engages it. I've virtually eliminated the nose dives except for a few certain bullet profiles. I've just removed a little more metal from the slide stop but with slide off and slide stop inserted, bullets when seated slightly forward in magazine, still comes in contact with slide stop. My question is - how much is too much when trimming on slide stop? I still have adequate contact with follower to lock slide back. Any help or knowledge will be appreciated.
Thanks

If you insert an empty mag while watching as it slides up you will see where the tab on the follower contacts the ss I prefer to do this with the gun assembled & slide locked back. It can be done with the ss inserted & slide off but that might not be as close to actual operation.

Thanks, I'll test the followers with the slide locked back and see what happens.

With any new Kahr mag, I disassemble it & clean the sticky lube. Then with the slide locked back, insert mag housing into grip. With gun held upside down, drop follower into mag housing and see if it freely falls all the way through. In about half of my mags, the follower would catch on mag release. A little sanding on the right side of the follower until it would freely fall through the mag housing has eliminated any feeding issues. I use 6 rd mag for carry but use 7 and 8 rd mags at the range and never had a missfeed or a failure to lock slide on empty mag.

All three of my magazine followers has been modified ( and they are cleaned ) so that they move freely with the magazine body being inserted into grip housing. I do not feel this is the problem but I will revisit. I was wondering if the problem may still lie with the bullet still coming in contact with slide stop and if so, how much more filing should I do to slide stop. Thanks
Joe, you've already removed material on the slide stop. I would not continue to file that piece right now. Instead, try tapping the rear spline of your magazines after you've filled them, to ensure the cartridges are seated fully to the rear. That should provide the clearance you need to prevent the bullet tips from striking the slide stop pin.

Yes, I fully seat cartridges to the rear. With slide off, I can insert loaded magazine and thumb feed them out and as I thumb feed the top cartridge out, the cartridge directly under the top cartridge moves forward somewhat. Same thing happens with slide on and hand cycling cartridges.

Even if you load them all the way to the back, the recoil and slide action from shooting is going to have the rest of them sliding forward. Seems there's a narrow window between not enough removed/early slide lock and too much removed/no lock back on final round.

to much is when the slide stop no longer engages the magazine follower and there4 fore no slide locking. If u are having issue with a few brands, just move on to anutter brand. the 9mm has tobe the most common round with every ammo maker and has to offer the best selections Unless ur absolutley stuck on one particular round that isnot working right, then just move on. Onceu gfind a good round for defense that works correctly, just stick wsith it..Just sayin

Thanks, that's the conclusion I've come to. Just seems odd to have problems with some fmj and not with defense rounds. As I stated earlier, it has improved a lot. Seems worse with 124 gr fmj. Just got a few more to try and see if they'll do better now. Just waiting on the humidity to move out. Rem/UMC is 100% reliable and readily available.
