Funny, I'm a vet and no one ever gave me a home. My wife and I lived in an apartment for six years and saved every penny we could to get the money for a down payment on a home. I worked another twenty-five years to pay off the mortgage. Times have really changed.

I'm with you 100% mugs, but then again I never expected anyone to give me anything. The worst thing I see is someone on the side of the road with the sign that reads, "I'm a vet, please help." I highly doubt that bum is a vet every time.

My buddy that did a tour in Nam was talking about this stuff the other night. He said he isn't angry, but he feels pretty hurt, by they way the Nam vets were treated, spit on, called baby killers, and totally disrespected by the punk college commies of the era, compared to the way the Iraq and Afghani vets are treated as heroes. He's glad the vets are treated well, he says it just really bugs him that todays vets are all "heroes" and treated so well, by the public anyway, when him and his buddies got treated like crap. War is hell, and Viet Nam was every bit as tough or tougher maybe than Afghanistan. Either place, you couldn't tell the friendlies from the enemies. But they sure didn't have no high tech body armor, and a lot of the technology they have now. Anyway, he didn't dwell on it. And neither am I. God Bless ALL war Vets. I and most everyone I know appreciate what you did.
