I took my new Kahr P45 to the range yesterday for part of its initial break in. I DID first go through all of the procedures in the "proper prep of new Kahr" before my trip to the range. My goal was to put 200 rounds through it yesterday, but I got cut short by a pressing schedule.
Here's the report:
I fired 160 rounds, and had 3 FTF's, ALL while I was shooting one handed, and I completely attribute those to limp-wristing it a bit.
Recoil? What recoil? I'm not very recoil sensitive in fairness, but the way people talked I expected MUCH worse. To me it felt the same as my Ruger SR9C or my full size all steel 1911. In other words, a non-factor. Of course, I think 45ACP is a great caliber with more of a "push" type recoil than a "snap" type recoil. I have yet to shoot a .45 ACP that I found uncomfortable to shoot. On the other hand, I've shot some compact guns in lesser calibers that were downright irritating and snappy. After shooting a friends 500 S&W Magnum 4" revolver, I'm good to go with anything moving forward. THAT one changes your perspective about recoil!
Trigger impressions: Long trigger pull? Heck yeah! But I knew that going in and planned on making adjustments. After about 100 rounds I guess, I decided to change how I placed my trigger finger on the trigger, not pushing it in as far, which allowed my finger to take up more trigger travel and resulted in some mildly better groups.
Accuracy: This is a shooter! VERY accurate pistol. More accurate than I am for sure. I was shooting my own reloads, which have worked flawlessly in every 45 I've ever used them in. In fact, my friend had a new SIG that he was shooting for the first time with some cheap factory ammo (Winchester white box, maybe? Or Remington....I forget) and he simply couldn't get it to function for him. I slid a box of my reloads over to him and it worked perfectly.
Here are two of my better 6 round targets at 21 feet. Yeah, I'm cheap with the paper plates and orange label dots that I get for free from work. I don't need zombie targets with fake blood dripping down to see where I hit. :)
