Sig P939?

A family member just purchased a new Sig939. I looked at one in the store and it looks like a nice 9. However, the trigger pull seems heavy to me. Anyone out there have one and what are your thoughts?

P938? A friend of mine has one and it's an extremely well-made little pistol. Sig quality all around. That being said, it comes with a few caveats. It's single-action only, so you really need to carry it cocked and locked like a 1911 (hammer cocked and safety on). This means you have to deal with a manual safety when you need it (practice practice practice). It also can snag or worse the safety can pop off if you're pocket carrying it.

I didn't find the trigger to be that heavy, but I didn't fire it--just played with it unloaded. Also, they're a bit pricey. You can get two Kahrs for the price of one P938. :eek:

I've got its baby brother, the P238. Extremely well made and flawless functioning and a joy to shoot. Its an occasional pocket pistol when heading out on quick errands but I'm with KingWulfgar on a DAO being better suited as a carry gun. Mines a Kahr CW-45.

Ditto. Love my p238. The SAO trigger has little take up and breaks crisp. If the 938 is anything like the P238 you can bet it's a good one.

My son has the 938 and loves it. Carries cocked and locked IWB. I prefer no thumb safety on a carry piece myself. It is a well made little 9 and does have a pretty heavy trigger for a SA, but needs it in my opinion since it doesn't have a grip safety to go along with the thumb safety. It shoots great for a micro 9 once you get used to the trigger. Looks good too - Blackwood model

I have both the 238 and 938 in the SAS. I'm quite fond of them both. I agree that the trigger is heavy for a SA .... but I find it a plus for a micro carry handgun. I am perfectly comfortable cocked and locked in a pocket holster. I got hooked on these when my wife wanted to move from a wheel gun to a semi, but needed something she could manipulate the slide as needed. She has a very weak grip and can barely move any of my Kahrs. I liked hers so much I bought them for myself also.

My wife also wants one of the 238s. We went to a gun show yesterday and she fell in love with about 5 or 6 of them. First she liked the Rosewood, then the Equinox. Then she saw the white pearl, then the purple pearl and then kind of liked the extreme. Thought she had made up her mind and then she saw the black pearl !! :der: Figure I'll get her one for Christmas.. if she can make up her mind by then.

I went to a public range early one morning and the only other shooter there was a forestry ranger running some rounds thru his wifes p938 I was shooting my tp40. We swapped pistol for a bit. Fired 3 mags each. My review is like others here . A bit rough and heavy of trigger after shooting the kahr that has a 5lb pull and his review not what I expected as a first time shooting a kahr. He said Nice pistol. Might have to buy one for off duty . he even shoot it better than the sig and he had 600 rounds thru it. I will carry ether the cm9 or cw9 as a small 9mm.

Is the P938 tuneable like any ole 1911 or they different inside.

Have 238 and like it. Couldn't wait for the 938 intro. Went and handled a couple. Didn't feel quite right in my hand. Just me, of course....they're really decent guns.

They are interested but not common and are typically $700+ pistols with a small following. They are good pistols nevertheless.

garyb I see there is a lighter main spring for the p938 that should lower trigger pull weight to 5.5lbs . May cause troubles with some hard primers but worth a try. Videos can be found that show full disassemble to do a bit of polishing of trigger parts.

That purple model is pretty wild looking. We had one where I work part time selling guns. First woman that showed up looking for an easy to rack semi auto snapped it up.
