I bought two stainless mags for my pair of CW45's I had , they both worked with out any modification and they worked in both guns, I just got another CW45 that came with an officer mag and it won't lock in without pressing the mag release??

The only difference in the mags is the one giving me trouble is blued and the two that worked were nickle , all mags are ACT, anybody know what the deal is? marcinstl modded the blued one to work, I guess when he got it it wouldn't lock in right, I just think it's strange that the nickle act mags functioned and fit right out the usps flat rate box, even locked the slide open on empty?

Its not a big deal I'm just wondering if the finish is the issue , I'm going to order at least one more act mag, I'd prefer it matched with my other mags but if the nickle will work unmodded out the box I may just go with that.

The square hole must have been just a smidgeon off.

1911 mags work in my PM45 but only for 1 round. I think the top needs shaping.

Try the mag with the slide removed; if it works that way you may need to take a little off the top of the mag.

The issue I am referring to has nothing to do with material needing to be removed from the feed lips, the mag gets stuck on the notch in the mag, ie I have to push the mag release button for the mag to slide past it and lock into the gun, the feed lips clear the slide fine.

Im guessing I have to polish up the mag catch as it seems a little sharp.

Thanks for the clarification of your "issue".

So it's a matter of inserting the mag, not actual function once inserted and seated? I wouldn't worry about that too much, most of my guns don't slam home.

If I shave down the feed lips, will the mag still function in a 1911? I may try it, but I'd like to get a spare to try it on, instead of using one of my 1911 mags.

Decado,
the rectangular hole in the mag where it engages the mag release, as I recall, needed some filing....... (hmmm, I might have gone to far). read thru the link to Greg's magazine experiments.
buy some files and a dremel tool, get a big box of magazines and have fun.

The mags I've shaved down still work in my Colt Officer's ACP, but I'm only removing material forward of the feed lips.

Yeah the mag works fine as it is, it's just a peeve I guess and I'm just wondering out loud as to what I need to do to get it to slide past the mag catch, I believe I know what is required, I already have a dremel and stuff , I'll mess with it this weekend.

Update to say this gentleman was correct and I was wrong and thinking it was a mag catch issue, Greg was correct in that it was the feed lips, had I followed his instructions instead of just assuming it was a mag catch issue the mag would have been adjusted the day he posted for me to check the feed lips.

I took the slide off and looked inside the mag well and could clearly see the feed lip getting hung up on the mag catch, I removed a little metal from the lip and polished with flitz and now it's good.

thank you Greg for your Wisdom, when you posted I meant no disrespect when I said my issue was with the mag catch not the lips, I honestly thought it was the catch .
