Can I use one in my newer PM9? I've heard both, yes and no. Which is it? And if no, why not?

You've probably heard both because both are probably true. While I wouldn't necessarily expect any problems, you could experience failure to properly cycle the slide issues. Especially with weaker loads. The slide could fail to open fully or close too quickly. Both could cause failures to eject or feed. I don't see an upside unless you expect to run a steady diet of +P loads. Are you having an issue with the factory spring?

If you have both you can use the older weaker spring for pop gun loads if you reload and the stronger spring for hotter and +P loads.

No issues with the standard weight spring. It's just time to swap them out, and was curious if there was any value in moving to a heavier spring.

Thanks for the feedback.

The factory spring is marginally "too strong" as it is... no need for anything heavier.

Many owners take steps in hopes of reducing the strength of the recoil spring assembly, like shooting hundreds of rounds for break-in, hand-cycling the slide umpteen times, or even storing the gun with the slide locked open. These people apparently feel the recoil spring assembly is too stiff for their liking. Rarely do we find an owner who wants a stiffer spring.

I trust that Kahr has tested a variety of springs to determine which weight yields the best performance. I would stick with what's proven.

yes u can, if any issue wold arise, it would be at the git go as sometimes this stiffer spring until it takes its designed set, would fokk up slide locking back but it will work itself out real fast for that to and again most never incur this nitch either. If u are gonna shoot hot ammo, then the 20.5# is a plus but kahrs factory spring for many is already a b*tch to work properly. U would get longer life out of the 20.5# spring if that means anything.

Try it, not gonna break the bank, u hav eto be the judge no I or utters here.

I have the 20.5 in my PMJ9 and it has been in there for I know5000 plus rounds, I cant say that it makes a hell of alot of difference for felt recoil as my PMJ9 is ported also. I also feel good that wolffs testsouot their heavier springs before ever offering them to. there used to be a 16# spring made expecialy for p#ssy guys like the colonel and Muggsy and downtown and getsome. But that is no longer offered. the part number back then was P*ssy16. Its the truth, so help me ol jocko.

Thanks for the replies.

I ordered a couple, a standard and a 20.5#. I don't usually shoot hot ammo. Really my interest was in seeing if the heavier spring would have more longevity. I don't have a issue with the standard spring being too stiff, so wasn't worries about me with the heavier spring, but the PM9. I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.
