howdy! new here, i have been carrying my cw9 for 2 yrs. recently i discovered the mag button was rock solid stuck, when i pulled it out for a weekly "de-linting" and cycle check and doh! rut roh. mag stuck, i squirted some kroil and let it sit for an hour, after lightly tapping with a small plastic hammer it started to free up. whew! to be fair i do carry this everywhere i go including work, in the summer it can easily get to 110 deg. and stay there for a month, and i work outside and sweat well...alot. i carry in a crossbreed mini tuck with combat cut, so the mag button is pretty much asaulted with sweat. anyone else experience this? and don't tell me to get an air conditioned job! i love my job and get to see alot of scantily clad women , (i work at a lake). instead i may get a non-combat cut iwb holster, but that's more $$$, care to chime in.

It's obvious that you don't exercise that gun enough. The damn thing atrophied. Dr. Muggsy prescribes at least a weekly range trip to cure the problem.

haha yeah, i put about 8 rounds through it during my weekly check out, besides more training once a month, the neighbors don't mind and i'm in the country a good ways, i think it just picked that week to go into rigormortis
now that i am aware all is good.

drumngun,
Hammer:2eek:...that seems like a lot of effort to free the latch. Do you sweat glue?:rain: Was the latch corroded? Did you check it for any damage (I once found a burr on the shelf of a Kahr mag latch).
There was also a composite mag latch, I could see where it might cause problems if the parts started to separate.

the mag catch on mine is steel, and yes it had corroded enough to cause the issue. after i freed it up i did a proper dcoa during which i lightly sanded surface rust off of mag catch. do i sweat glue? no just regular salty sweat, this also happened to my coworker about 2 months before mine (we bought our guns on sale on the same day, same holster too) i just gotta get rid of the combat cut iwb holster i think that will solve the problem as the mag button stays right up against my skin. i thought about giving up whiskey (makes really corrosive sweat) but i ain't no quitter!

Thanks for the followup drumngun:)
I've been thinking of picking up one of these kits to try on some small parts:
http://www.caswellplating.com/plug-n-plate-brush-plating-kits/plug-n-plate-nickel-copper-kit.html
I'm thinking that it should improve corrosion resistance.

yeah greg i bought their GOLD PLATING kit to do a trigger and hammer on my RIA 1911 but it pretty much "wore off" after a few hundred rounds apparently it is NOT real gold according to a jewler i talked to (boy i feel gulible)he told me what it was but i don't remember, he said take it to a real plating shop if you want that done the cost would have only been about 20 bucks more than the kit itself. don't know about the copper stuff, but it is probably similar? i guess it is only for looks not actual use. pffft. just my experience. p.s. i did read the instructions maybe that is what i did wrong.

drumngun,
Thanks for the info on the plug-n-plate kits. It's not what I was wanting to hear, but good to know. I may still get the nickle kit to play around with.
I've read some good things about their "electroless nickle" kit , so I might give it a go as well.
On another note, some years back I pakerizied my G27's slide stop then painted it with a bake on "header" paint. It still looks good today; full coverage and never a hint of rust.
Regards,
Greg

I think that mag catch is the olderversion. It has been a few years at least since kahr made that polymer catch with the mmetal insert. The metal tab is steel, so corrosion could happen for that is an area that most never ever see or think about even. I think kahr went to the one peace MIM part as a cost savings to, but I never had one issue wityh my polymer/metal button.
