I picked some defensive ammo to test for reliable feeding in CW380 . Lehigh XP, Winchester Train and Defend, Winchester PDX1, Hornady CD.
CW380 choked on everything but Hornady, which ran 100%. I am fine with that.

smart guy, good post, it is what it is, a pure defense gun , so stick with the Hornady, it will more than get the job done, and I would bet a 500 rounds from now with range fodder that gun will shoot um all..

That's exactly why my CW380 will be gone shortly. A gun that's made for self defense but can't cycle most self defense ammo is a giant failure. Mine has battery failures with everything I've tried except Critical Defense. One trip back to Kahr didn't end the problems so I'm done with it.
In contrast, my LCP feeds, fires and ejects everything I put through it.

Mine is also stoked with Hornady CD. It ran with Speer Gold Dots just fine, but they were about 10 years old and I decided to get fresher ammo and couldn't find Gold Dots.

A defensive gun that cannot be loaded with anything but a particular round? In my opinion that's a throw down gun, I guess if the shtf you could use ball ammo.

The gun for me fits a niche. It's diminutive size and width are useful in ways that I need them to be. These attributes also create limitations that I can live with.

So far I have run some pmc Starfire, federal hydra shok and Remington UNC hollow points through mine without issue,I will test more when .380 ammo is less scarce in my area.

There are plenty of guns that do best with one particular ammo over all others. Some guns are finicky; this isn't unique to Kahr. I've always been told to test a wide variety of SD ammo with a given gun if you intend to use it for SD/CC so that you know which ones work and which ones don't.
Hornady Critical Defense in my CW45 have been the most reliable. I think the pointy bullet helps. hydrashoks also work pretty well (had a light primer strike once). Golden Sabres don't clear the slide stop very well.
My CM9 is much less picky, but I still prefer hornady Critical Defense ammo. I've also had good results with the Critical Duty ammo.

Hornady CD FTX in my CM9 and KelTec P3-AT, Gold Dots in everything else.No worries here at all.

My CW380 runs 100% with CD.
Runs 100% with Blazer Brass & PMC Bronze FMJ.
WWB, UMC, Geco, & Fiocchi FMJ have all caused the little gun to fail with failures to feed from the magazine. I think the ammo may run under powered.

I am looking forward to finding some PMC. PMC has been great ammo for decades.

Well.....Many weapons have characteristics of firing one round better than others. Range testes thru the decades invariably prove that each weapon has a tendency to like one make and style of ammo better than others.

The only ammo that my P380 doesn't like is the flat nosed Winchester ammo. My CM9 eats anything that I feed it.

My CW380 has eaten everything that I've run through it including the flat nosed Winchester.

My P380 runs very well with Hornady CD and Speer CD, both of which I can always find at my LGS (or online). So I carry Speer GD in my P380. It also runs well with FMJ from CCI/Blazer, Federal AE and Remington/UMC, all of which I can also buy locally. To me that's good enough to keep the gun as one of my CCW options. ;)
I have had some flat nose H.P.'s & FMJ's not feed in my CW380. Pretty much everything else does . My LRN reloads and carry ammo XTP's and Lehigh's function just fine. I am satisfied. I do not care what other loads do not work as long as my carry round of choice functions 100%. Amazing lack of muzzle flip and great trigger for such a small pistol.
