Anybody use them on their Kahr? They seem like a good solution for close range combat, but how do they fare further out? Are they too big? Tired eyes need to check out some options for my PM9.

I'm sure there's an easier way of doing this but I couldn't figure it out. On page 6 of this above thread there's some pics of my PM45 with XS Big Dots. I love them, have them on my Para's too. Perfect setup for aging eyes.
You just cover your target out to about 20 yards or so, then switch to a 6 oclock hold beyond that. Some say that the big dots are as pin point accurate but I really don't buy it. I have standard dots on full size guns and I think they are better if your gonna reach out but for a carry gun, I'm sold on the big dot.
Theres another thread under the XS sight section with lots of talk about them. I don't think you'd regret getting them at all.

I like the standard dots, myself. However you ought to know that it will change the sight picture on a Kahr. Kahrs are made with the "traditional" sight picture that puts the point of impact above the front sight. XS sights convert it to a "combat" sight picture, in which the dot on the front sight is on top of the point of impact.

Bawanna, thanks for the thread link. I probably should have done a search first. So I guess you didnt use the drift tool? I plan on taking a stab with sight replacement on my sons RIA before I attack the PM9. Hey, I'd rather attack the slide on someone elses gun before I operate on my babies. Your pix helped to get a sense of scale. I wasnt sure how big they really were. They seem like just the ticket for CQ.

user, I hear what your saying. Could take some practice getting use to a diff sight picture. Damn, I guess I'll just have to spend more time at the range!

Until I put these big dots on my PM45 I always preferred the standard dot also. But on these small compact guns I really like the big dot. While going to the combat sight picture the sights them self look very similar. It was not a difficult transition at all.
On a 4 or 5 larger gun I'd go the standard dot again. Also good for my eyes. What I like is they show well in low light but I can see them clearly in daylight.
