I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not really satisfied with the limited number of options when it comes to grips for the K series of pistols.

I contacted VZ Grips to see if they have or will have sometime in the future plans to produce their excellent grips for the Kahr. If any of you have try these grips on other pistols that they do offer grips for, you'll understand my interest in getting a pair for my K9 and would hope you will too.

What I would like to do is start a poll to see how much interest there is and forward this information to VZ to convince them that there is a market.

To me, the soft polymer K9 grips are utterly perfect.

I would buy 2-3 sets if/when they are available.

I'd go for some slim ones for the MK9 ---Kinda like the original but with Vz's aggressive checkering.

Yup, for an MK 9 here as well... SOME options would be nice, besides factory (Houge) wood....

I'd probably give them a try and this from a guy that whittles his own.

On that note I think I'm whittling on my last set as we speak. Just to complicated and time consuming for me anymore.

I may whittle a set from time to time and offer em up but not looking to make anymore.

I'd welcome a VZ option for sure.

Yeah, have VZ put me down as good for a set. I will be buy a second K-9 in the future and would never pass up a good deal on an MK-9/40...

I put a set of their "tactical diamonds" grips on my J-frame Smith, but would want a "320" finish on a carry Kahr. I need to mute the points on my J-frame. I keep pocket change in with the holstered gun and reaching in for change will grate the flesh from your hand.

Shoots good though.

I understand the attraction to VZ, but Hogue already has the CNC design for Kahr grips and make micarta, so they could whip out a set pretty easily.

I'm sorry, but after you've had the best you forget the rest. I'm a Bawanna Grip kinda guy. :) (A little sucking up doesn't hurt when you get as close to the edge as I do sometimes.)

I'm tearing up a little bit here.

You incidentally are the "edge". Should change your screen name to "The Edge".

It's actually a close race between you and the sheep herder. Don't want to mention his name and start a stampede.

Personally, I think the best solution is to buy a set of the smooth Hogue grips then send them off to the Colonel for a little magic.

I'm totally on board with that plan. I like the magic part. Making them is rather tedious and not really a lot of fun.

My hats off to the boys with CNC machines that can make in 10 minutes what takes me a whole weekend.

I sent you an email few days ago about Kahr grip cost, Bawanna. Did you get it?

I did not that I know of. I'll check but I'm sure I don't remember one.

Well back up here, I guess I did get it. It was on the gmail account. It's suppose to let me know when I get a message there but it apparently didn't.

In answer for the moment I don't think I'll be making any more Kahr grips from scratch. I do have one set for a fella in the works that will be it at least for a while. If they don't fit his gun I'll let ya know and we can give them a trial fit.
I'm using some decent coco bolo on them so I anticipate they will look pretty nice.

Just too much work with the tools I have to get them fitted. I also have encountered frame variations where they fit my sample but end up not fitting another gun of similar vintage.

I will checker or inlay or whatever a factory Kahr smooth grip.

Having Hogue step up and make some nicer woods is a good idea. I'm surprised they don't offer Kahr grips direct from Hogue, could be a contract thing or something.

Not just wood - Hogue does micarta, aluminum and wood laminate. Pretty much anything that isn't real hard and will fit in their CNC machine is game once they have the pattern.

What really stinks is that blems go on their auction site and sell for cheap - but not blems that only Kahr sells.

I don't suppose Kahr runs sales?

Edit: Looking at Kahr and Hogue prices, the Kahr grips are pretty reasonable. A similar wrap around grip design in their cheapest wood with no checkering is $69. The only thing that beats that are the HogueAuction blem prices - around $30. So I won't complain about Kahr's wood grip pricing any more.

I think Hogue grips for Kahr sell exclusively through kahr. Even if we talked Hogue into making more varieties and different materials and still sold through Kahr, that would work.

I think the stock soft grips and skateboard tape on the front strap of my K9 are perfect. K9 grips are less than $20 from Kahr. Once modified a set for an MK9. Choices are good though.

Everybody has different preferences, but I like having the ability to customize my guns, and I really like VZ grips. If they offered grips for Kahr, I'd buy a set for my K9 and MK40 in a heartbeat. I've emailed them multiple times about this and even talked to them in person at the NRA show in Houston. At that show, they were even right across the aisle from the Kahr booth, so I also talked to the Kahr folks to see if I could persuade them to get VZ to produce grips for them.

VZ was always polite, but always gave me the same answer -- they don't feel there's enough demand for Kahr grips to warrant devoting production time away from their better selling grips to make them. They did say if enough people expressed interest in Kahr grips they'd consider it, but that hasn't happened yet. I reminded them that they offer grips for the very low production volume Rohrbaugh R9, and that they'd likely sell way more Kahr grips than Rohrbaugh grips. They told me that's only because one of the owners has the Rohrbaugh and wanted replacement grips for it, so they made some and figured since they already had the CNC program and fixture for it, they might as well offer them for sale.

Right now, I'm planning to make my own wood grips for my K9, once I figure out which wood I want to use. My MK40 wears the checkered wood grips I bought off the Kahr website, and I've been very happy with them.

Does Hogue still make Kahr grips to sell? I went to their WEB site and there are no grips listed for Kahr. The only place they seem to be available is on the Kahr WEB site. It's surprising to me no one makes wood grips for them.

I'm in for MK9 grips as well. I will email and call VZGRIPS.

Edit: Whoops, I just realized how old this thread is.

I like Houge rubber wrap-arounds and have them on many pistols. They are not available for my CZ P-01 so I tried a set of VZ grips and have been very pleased with them. I like the factory rubber grips on my K9 but I would try VZs if they were offered. I also have a T9 on layaway that I would probably buy VZs for but I bet there is really not enough demand for those. The VZ frag grips on my P-01 are thin, have just the right amount of texture, and look pretty cool too.
