first question: did you check that the spring is installed correctly? there have been reports of springs installed backwards.
second: does the mag. fit easily into the well? if the sides have a slight bulge it may bind. a small vice is good for this, squeeze a little, test, repeat
third: with an empty mag inserted, is there any contact with the slide? a small file or sandpaper to shave a bit off the top.

fourth: try and shoot the pistol with out putting stress and strain on the magazine, as there was some reports of the 9mm mags having an issue with the pinkie rest being the culprit as the shooters grip was doing some odd behaviour via that little pinkie thing and causing malfunction

I never got a long mag for either of my PM45's, but the PM9's came with long mags and to date, have not given a lick of trouble.

One last thing, and I know it don't make sense, but perhaps with all the rest of 1, 2, 3 & 4 above it matter.... maybe.... but Kahr's tend to like longish ammo, and some 45 stuff is quite short. The ol' 1911 loves short ammo, and Kahr don't work like that. Could you maybe try some longish hardball and see how that does and modify and kajole ammo preferences if that long mag is employed? Just a thought.
