Hello,

Just purchased a new P380 to compliment my P9. I field stripped in order to implement the prepping of new Kahr protocol and had some issues getting the slide back on. It seems that the left corner of the rear of the slide was catching on the trigger bar and getting stuck. When attempting to apply a little extra force, I noticed that the side panel was starting to pull away as the slide caught on the trigger bar and began to pull on it. I contacted Kahr and was instructed that I should put the slide on all the way to the point that it contacts the trigger bar and then pull the trigger while continuing to advance the slide. This seems to work, but is this normal or is this merely a work around for a gun that has some variances in manufacturing tolerances?

Thanks

They seem to have changed their procedure advise. It used to be you were to pull the trigger to dissasemble but not touch the trigger to reassemble. Now it seem it makes it easier if you do pull the trigger. On mine I just pull it a little bit, not all the way, just wiggle it a bit as the slide ride over. I put the slide lock lever in as soon as things line up, then continue back to the witness marks or the slot lines up. Seems to help things along too. I don't think it's a big issue. A few here have experienced exactly what you just described and were told to pull the trigger. The instruction manuals have not been updated at this point that I've noticed.

I agree, the first time I broke down my P380, I was really concerned that I would not be able to put it back together. However, if you watch their video and put a little effort on it, it will go back...

The slide release lever was the hardest for me, and it you do start it a 4 o'clock postitoin and ease it up, it jsut seems to snap in place.

Taking it apart is still not one of my most favorite things to do!

I have never had to youch the trigger on mine for re-assembly. I do however insert the slide stop prior to the witness marks lining up that does make the whole process a little easier. I have however had a hard time getting the guide rod and springs back in! Little thing just doesn't want to go all the time!

I've had mine apart many many times and still occasionally the planets don't want to align and allow it to go back together. I too never touched the trigger but just made sure the recoil spring was lined up. Sometimes it just didn't want to go. Now when that happens I just wiggle the trigger a bit and things fall into place.
The takedown going in as soon as it lines up saves alot of grief and seems to help get it together easily but still not always. I have yet to determine exactly whats messing with me when it is in denial mode.
