I was looking around tonight and I ran across this. Not much on pocket carry much rather have a holster but this was interesting and I do enjoy hickok45 so this was his take on it and yes he did have a kahr on the table

I don't hardly use a holster much these days. Depending on my attire, a PM45 or PM9 in my pocket, lint and all, is good to go.

I carried the one PM45 in my pocket for months and months, got a little stressed out one day after work, and pulled it out in the back yard. Fed its six rounds flawlessly, lint and all.

That was a good excuse for a cleanin', but if I been in a gritty or sandy place, I know enough to make sure the pistol get a good internal bath.

And.... the K-Kote on my PM45 is holding up pretty well. A few nicks n scrapes, but the only really bare metal is on the slide stop forward edge, which takes a lot of rubbin'. Other than that its not too bad for a few years of literally daily carry.

I pocket carry my CM9 or LCP quite often when IWB or OWB is not convenient. Throw it in a cheap Blackhawk and never even think about it being there, except when I reach for my truck keys and they're in my other pocket.

Sometimes I pocket carry my P380 in a Sticky Holster or a generic leather pocket holster with back panel. It works well for me, especially during summer.

I sometimes pocket carry a TCP but my build and my jeans don't hide that bulge enough for me to not be self-conscious about it.
As the weather gets colder, though, I may be doing more coat-inside-pocket-carry with the TCP or my PM9 as that would be more accessible than IWB with a buttoned up jacket over it.

IMO the whole miracle of a p380 (or similar sized 380) is that I CAN pocket carry with a pocket holster. No other method is so convenient, safe and discreet.

One of several huge advantages is you can put your hand in your pocket without attracting attention. In the video, Hickok45 shows noting, but already has the gun in his hand. There's no way to get that head start using an OWB or IWB holster.

I've been pocketing my MK9 for years.........it's not the only way I carry, but for the most part, since open carry is cause for a face planting around here, it's very convenient.......................would never do it without a holster of some type though.

CM9 replaced many years of pocketing a snubby for work. Its in my pocket in a hard leather holster as a CC or a back up for a larger kahr.

Pocket carry's never worked well for me, for whatever reason.
One single exception...an NAA Mini in .22mag in a hip pocket in a holster not made any more. Got pushing 20 years on that set-up and use it often...refer to it as my Speedo gun.

Got my cw380 in my pocket in a sticky holster as I type right now. I carry my CM9 in my pocket also - not quite as comfy because of the extra weight though.

I pocket carry a J frame or cm9 all the time. Used to pocket a lcp until i upgraded. Sometimes pocket carry my cm45. All of them are in a holster of some type.

I much prefer to belt carry, but that only works with a jacket or untucked shirt. I don't do IWB normally, but I just bought two small Remora's so I'm going to try again. If so, it will be with the PM9 or CM45. If I am forced to carry in a pants pocket, it's always the PM9. The CM45 and even the MK40 will work in an inside leather or heavy jacket pocket. The reason I like a belt holster is that it opens up the choice to nearly all my pistols.

I do sometimes pocket carry a HK P2000SK 357 or Kahr MK40 Elite.
But my favored pocket gun is an 11.1 oz S&W 342 ti Centennial J-Frame.

Really prefer OWB belt carry.
But that's not always practical.

I pocket carry all the time. A S&W 642 or a Keltec PF9.

I pocket carried an MK40 usually in a Recluse or a simple thin leather pocket holster.
Then I was introduced to the "fanny" pack and that is what I use the most. However, pocket carry is still a component of carry when the fanny pack is not appropriate, like coat and tie events.

Always been big on IWB. For years, until recently, I could carry almost anything that way. Lost about 40 pounds over the last nine month, tho....back to my fightin' weight. Now gotta pick and choose 'cause of printing.

I need to do that myself. 40 pounds would be just about right too.

I pocket carry a CW380 everyday. The holsters I use are the Desantis Nemesis and BlackHawk.

Yeah....that! Dropped four waist sizes, from an over burdened 42 to a 38 and casual and sweat shirts dropped from XXLto XL at the largest. There was just no way I could make the old stuff work any longer. Fortunately, the expensive dress clothes are a thing of my past so other than new, good gun belts it wasn't too awful expensive.

I think we're brothers with different mothers. I'm stretching that 42" mark and need to get back to that 36 mark.

I'd say that's my fighting weight but I fight no matter what my weight it so guess it don't matter much.

I've heard that losing weight around yer middle make your manhood look bigger. I wouldn't want to scare any women off. :)

Don't think so in my case, but I'm now at least able to look straight down and see it again.

Cato. Thanks for the 3-Speed Holster info. I did not realize it could be completely hidden with tucked in shirt.

I carry the P380 and a spare mag in pocket holster. It always goes bang and picks up the next round. I also am very good at hitting the target with it. Nemesis holsters for that job and yes I am fine with "only" a 380.

My other pocket carry is a Smith & Wesson 642 J frame. It has a tuned trigger and VZ boot grips. It rides in a Masters (Turkish company) pocket holster that is best described as a "leather envelope". Thin, tough leather, rough out with zero padding it works perfect for me. I drop a speed strip in the same pocket and out the door we go. No +P .357 wanna-bees loaded for me, I shoot 125grn standard pressure rounds. My trick is this, I don't miss with that combo.

Am I under armed carrying these? Nope, but I am always armed, as these combos are very easy to carry daily.

Now if I can just find a "Masters like" J Frame holster with a "side pocket" for the five rounds on the speed strip. I believe that combo will drop in the pocket even faster and that'd be perfection. Beardog maybe?

Sig P238 in a DeSantis pocket holster occasionally.

you know I've only carried my LCP in the pocket nemesis, but I've compared it to my pm9 just yesterday and me's thinking I need to get a pocket holster for the pm9 as its not much bigger at all but obviously a little heavier.......

I was thinking a kydex holster for the pm9 to keep it a thinner profile rather than a desantis or like.....

pm9 pocket holster suggestions appreciated...

I went from a 40 to now comfortably wearing 34 with room for my IWB TCP. I still wear decently nice clothes since I'm a teacher but moreso because I'm young and single. One perk though is that I still have a lot of my clothes from high school when I actually cared about buying nice clothes so they're seeing daylight again.

In regards to the pocket carry question, it is my opinion in the tradition of minmaxing that if it is small enough to pocket carry, then it is even easier and more comfortable to IWB that same gun. Keeping the same gun size, and moving up a mode of carry instead of pushing the boundaries of largest gun per position.

I use a DeSantis Nemesis size MK to pocket my CM9 daily.

No one using a kydex holster for pocket carry? I see only leather holsters mentioned here. I am interested in comments on a kydex, since it seems it would be thinner and lighter.

Maybe kydex has too much retention to reliably pull out of a pocket? If you made it a looser mold for less retention then maybe you'd have rattles, idk.

My PM9 gets mostly pocket carried in a modified by me pocket Alabama Holster. Mods were to loosen retention a bit for easier, faster & smoother push off and cutting the body side kydex to match the front to allow for a better SD grip while hand is in the pocket.

Prior to getting my PM9 my P3AT was mostly pocket carried.

There can be SD situations in which the pocket is the very best place to have your gun holstered and maybe not so good in other situations.

Bill K, just how did you loosen the retention? I have a holster somewhat like your Alabama, except mine is formed to the gun on both sides, whereas an Alabama is smooth on the outside. Therefore, the retention on mine is probably tighter. I tried heating mine up with a hair dryer and then sliding the gun in and out several times. Everything works ok, except I cannot push the holster down with the thumb tab when in my pocket. The holster never fails to stay in my pocket, but I would like to push off with the thumb tab and have it somewhat loose in my pocket. I may not have gotten the kydex hot enough.

I carry my cw380 in a elite pocket holster that I bought for my old diamondback db380,I had to pop a few stitches to make it fit but it works perfect for me.

Like you I used heat but with the Alabama holster most of the retention is achieved by a dimple pushed in behind the front of the trigger guard on the back side of the holster. So for me it was mostly heating that dimple and from the inside of the holster pushing it out a bit.

I got rid of the thumb push for several reasons. The thumb push does not allow the holster to fit.ride as flush along the leg I feel I can get a quicker and smother draw and grip pushing off with my middle finger as opposed to my thumb.

P380 in a Recluse holster in front pants pocket when I am pocket carrying. Not a big guy (and my jeans are too tight right now) so my PM9 always goes CC on my belt.

I'll look into that idea with the thumb push since it doesn't help me anyway. And......a new use for the middle finger.

Joe was coming out of the shower at the local club. Having gained a few pounds, his buddy John shouted out, Joe , how long has it been since you've seen your dick? Long time says Joe. Why don't you diet, says John. Joe asks, what color is it now?????

I think "it" gets smaller with age too. I know someone who accidentally got hold of a loose string in his pants, couldn't tell the difference, and peed down both legs. :w00t:
It's also awkward when you can only pee horizontally with the floor (or maybe up) and can't direct it down anymore. Of course, I'm not sayin' I personally have these problems, but the rest of you may, and that could be really embarrassing.........but then I'm only guessing at what it must feel like. :p
