Got this off the trail cam this afternoon. This boy is big for an N.C. deer. Got me thinking about laying out of work in the morning. Muzzle loader season came in a week ago and I haven't let any smoke fly yet.

It would have been an easy shot from that tree stand in the background.

Seen a few like that in bertie county lease like that. Problem was they were closer to 600 plus yards away, not like this one. Looks like the shoulders of a wool coat in the photos too.

If you look close in the top picture, the "wool coat" is another deer. You can see the ear on the lower right of the coat. It moves right in the second picture.

Nice!
N. C. deer might not get that big, but I've had a few cause me to leave pucker marks on the seat of my motorcycle when they ran up to the road (Hwy. 70 through the Croatan National Forest) as I was motoring by at night.

Yeah that's a baaaad feeling on a bike. I had a nice 7 point commit suicide into the side of my truck a few years back. It didn't even mess up any of the meat, but sure did a number on my truck.

Motorcycle vs animal, even large dog can be a pretty even battle and usually the rider takes a pretty good beating.

I've see a few animals hit by car and the animal died but scored the win, car terribly mangled.

I remember well our trip to Wyoming a couple years back, right about dusk, you just want to slow down, animals seem to come out of the wood work and want to play in the road, it was crazy.

When I was just a tad younger I used to run them deer down on foot, bulldog 'em to the ground and slit their throats with my Bowie knife. Saved a lot on ammunition that way and damaged very little edible meat. Course, that was back when men were still men. I didn't need no motorcycle to catch 'em, neither. :)

I had to look hard too. In the first picture you see a dark object lower left, on the right end of that dark you can make out ears.

In the second picture the camera angle is the same but the dark object is now in the right bottom corner. I'm thinking we're looking at the west end of a eastbound deer. It right up close to the camera.

Look again, if you don't see it I think there's a 50% off sale on Sears optical department.

Oh crap! Wonder how they got out of that predicament.

I mucked out the barn today, first time I'd ever done it but with daughter busy with baby and all I had at it. Two horses trying to crawl in my lap. My life is complete
