I am new to the forum and also a first time Kahr Arms owner. I recently purchased a new CW380 after a friend suggested that I take a look at what Kahr has to offer. I travel a lot and I am usually dressed in business casual clothes, so I wanted something that would slip into my pocket. I settled on the CW380. First let me say, I am a former LEO. I have worked numerous homicides where the weapon used for the crime was a .380. The caliber is fine with me for what I need. I don't need or want anything bigger.

After cleaning and lubing the new gun I paid a visit to my local range. I took 325 rounds of ammo with me; 200 rounds of PMC Bronze 90 grain FMJ, 100 rounds of American Eagle 95 grain FMJ, and 25 rounds of Hornady Critical defense. I fired all 325 rounds. The weapon functioned flawlessly for the full 325 rounds. There were no FTF, FTE, or FTRB issues. This is an excellent gun and I love the trigger on it. BTW, if you need range ammo http://www.sportsmansguide.com has 380 PMC Bronze for for less than 16bucks a box. They are out this week but will have some shortly. At least once a month they offer free shipping. My LGS sells it for $23 a box.

I now carry this daily in my pants pocket. It is in my pocket from the time I get dressed in the morning until I call it a night. The light weight of the CW380 makes it very easy to carry all day long. I use a Desantis Nemesis or a Blackhawk holster depending on the pants that are worn. I also purchased a SnagMag for my alternate pocket. Although I don't like the price (it is not worth 35 bucks) it does give me a concealed extra mag that I can access quickly.

I did not know about this forum until after I purchased my CW380. I see people complaining about a lot of issues with the gun up here. If I had found KahrTalk before my purchase I probably would have purchased something else. I am glad I found this site afterwards. This is an excellent weapon and I am pleased with it. I will be buying another for my wife soon. She has shot this one and loves it also.

Nice to hear that your CW380 is reliable, what other pistols did you consider?

Welcome BigEasy,
Good report, glad to hear your happy with your new Kahr CW380.
I own 4 different Kahrs and all run just fine. I know what you mean about all the whine lately on the forum.
The two new CW380's I recently ordered for my dad and I have both been running just fine using PMC FMJ and my own RN and HP reloads. They really are very nice guns for the purpose of CCW.

Glad you are here and your new pistol is working well. I have begun to wonder if some of the whining comes from competitors trolling the site. I can't imagine spending months, and sometimes years, whining about something that was an inconvenience at worst. I can't think of any other reason for it. Always happy to see positive folks!

a couple of LGS's tried to talk me out of my first Kahr. But I've never been to good at following directions and for once it really paid off! :)

I had considered the M&P Shield 9mm, the Glock 17, BodyGuard 380, and the Taurus TCP 738. The first two were to big for my needs and the last two I had a chance to shot and I just did not like them. They didn't "feel" right to me. The CW380 felt perfect. Plus it shoots a heck of a lot better.

Almost no recoil in my small hands. How did the muzzle flip of the Kahr.380 compare to the Taurus and Bodyguard in your hands? Of course the usual accuracy, great trigger pull and function, with the right ammo,XTP and now Lehigh bullets in my Kahr.

The others, at least to me, felt like they kicked a bit harder than the CW. Not enough that it was extreme but enough for me to know that I would not enjoy them for more than one box of ammo at the range. The CW feels and shoots like a Cadillac. Very little recoil. I put 325 rounds through the CW in one range visit. If I had more rounds I could have kept shooting. I was enjoying it.

Are you running the Xtreme Penetrators in your CW? I saw on Lehighs site where they said that there were feeding issues in the Kahr with those. Are they working OK for you? If so I think I want to try them out.

After my CW380 was broken in I bought PrecisionOne XTP ammo for carry, no problems. After learning of the Lehigh's on one of the posts here I thought I would give them a try. I was not too sure after seeing the nose profile. Shot 2 boxes no problems. However the first round had to be slingshot-in. If I dropped the slide using the release/stop lever the round would not feed. Some have suggested on the back-up mag have a XTP on top. After your 325 round break-in I would give them a try.

I have no use for the whiners. Both my P380 and my CW40 are excellent firearms. Welcome to the forum.
