I have a p40 that will not function correctly. It will fire the first round but fails to feed the second. I have substantial wear on the right side of the polymer frame. Could this be the problem by not allowing the slide to function properly.

Any help is appreciated.

Some shaving of the polymer guide rails is normal and can be cleaned up with an Exacto knife or razor blade. Explain what type of misfeed your gun is having. ie. Nose dive jamb failure to go into battery, stove pipe, etc.

It will fire once fails to load the next round & then the Tap rack ready loads a round fires again. Same process over and over. I understand the trimming of the polymer but I believe I have more wear than normal may be causing the slide not to operate right. I have pics just haven't figured out how to upload them
