Frog lube is a good product, but it's a little expensive and other less expensive products work as well. Try it. If you like it, use it. If you don't like it try something else.

I'm not sure it's necessary on a stainless Kahr. They really don't need much lubrication from my experience. A little RemOil in a couple key areas... I guess I can't justify the expense regardless of how good it is.

I do not think it is necessary to use one lube over another, but it is ESSENTIAL on stainless to use SOME kind of lube. This document (http://www.nickelinstitute.org/~/Media/Files/TechnicalLiterature/ReviewofWearandGallingCharacteristicsofStainlessSt eel_9006_.pdf)will show you the low galling score of 416 stainless compared to others on page 24 in the table. 416 rates at a 13 against 416 (slide on frame), not the lowest, but you MUST have some kind of lube on the stainless to stainless points of wear. Galling is the transfer of metal between surfaces, sort of a sticky transfer from friction welding. ANY lube can be used, including rubbing the frame rails through your hair, chapstick, candle wax, etc, etc, should you have nothing else available (dipstick oil works too....).

As to FrogLube, I like it. I have been using the SEAL1 CLP, a similar (competitor?) type of lube and actually enjoy cleaning my firearms again. My MK9 has about 400 rounds through it with the SEAL1, no significant issues to report. I used it rather heavily the first time out with it on the MK9 and had to wipe the extra off at the range. doing this also took off the carbon from shooting.... The old standards like Hoppes No.9 work and are not that much cheaper than the FrogLube/SEAL1 stuff considering I would be currently freezing my &ss off in the garage due to their aroma, not cleaning inside in the warmth.... My wife actually likes the smell of the SEAL1 and now cleans her own pistols when we sit down together. Anything that keeps her interested is more than worth its price. As a side note, if Kahr would make a .22LR pistol like the Ruger SR22, but all simplified like a Kahr, I would buy a few for trainers (even if they had to be hammer fired...). My wife loves her SR22, and now cleans everything with the SEAL1 and doesn't smell like solvents when she is done, happy wife, happy life....

OP if you are on the fence about these type of CLP's, I am sure you have a drawer with a couple of holsters that you did not like, hit the web up and sell them to finance this little foray into cleaning. Let us know what you end up doing and how it works for you....

Love the Froglube, on the recommendation of an old friend and competitive shooter, I tried it. Cleaned the first gun of all lube and soot while doing some trigger work. Wet (frog)lubed the whole innards of the action and just blotted off the drippy excess. Then left all the parts on a paper towel and went and watched a football game. When I put the gun back together every part seemed to be slick, but they were dry to the touch. The action was very smooth for that first range trip. it has now been 9 months since I have been inside the action on that J frame and it still is butter smooth and sheds gunpowder soot with little effort. My Kahrs, 1911's,.22's and revolvers wear Frog too.
Frog is now my favorite lube, but Hoppe's smells better...:D

So, as the OP, what did you do? Have you refreshed your stock of Hoppe's Elite, or gone out on a limb with the frog lube???

I got me some frog lube to try out. I expect many different products work quite well, including frog lube. But this stuff doesn't smell bad to mama, which is important when gun cleaning moves from the shop to the house.

Agree, completely.

I Clean most parts with RemOil which has Teflon built in and self lubricates as well as cleans. A few spots I'll put some MPro-7 or RemOil OIL (not the aerosol cleaner) and call it good.

Froglube and CLP type stuff always End up too greasy for me, when the gun heats up.

I won't need to shop for new product for a while. I was interested in frog lube because I was worried about keeping the dark staining off, but its holding up pretty well, it was a mess when I got it.

I'll try the frog lube next time I have the cash to spare.

I'm using it on my two CW's....... seems to work just fine. My only gripe, and reason I'm not using it on my other firearms is the need to strip off all the old "petro-lube" products and heat up the guns before putting on the F.L...... and just haven't taken the time to do all the rest of the "family"

For the CW's, it does seem to do a good job, they clean up easily after a range trip, (although not sure how much better than the rem-oil treated ones and others that I have used). Once I run out, will I get more? Uncertain at this point. Am I happy with the F.L. yep, so far so good.

Eh, I think this part is overrated..... I just slather it on, hit it up with a hairdryer, or shoot it until warm and wipe off the excess, then give it another round next time... No cleaning the "petro-lube" off.... The Frog Lube/SEAL 1 does that for you... But at first I was doing the same thing and cleaning in alcohol, etc... The whole leave the firearm in the sun thing works very well in the warmer months.... I am getting lazy and liking the fact that this stuff lets me clean in the kitchen where it is warm in the winter...

I love the stuff. I use it on all 3 guns (MK9, FNS9, custom built AR15.) Works great and doesn't stink up my shop (or what my girlfriend calls the dining room.)

After reading the http://www.dayattherange.com/?page_id=3667 I did more research and found Seal 1 (basically the same stuff but orange) and bought it and really like it. Got the combo kit with the paste and semi-liquid (and patches - haven't used those yet though).

Those tests show high lubricity and corrosion resistance for the frog lube, so I suspect Seal1 offers the same.
