If it's possible to 3D scan an object, could one scan the polymer frame of a PM45, then print it in stainless steel or aluminum alloy? The grip would need redesign to accept rubber grips, which would have be printed or we could get Bawanna to make wood grips...

I've never worked with any of this 3D stuff, but I do have 20 years of 2D Autocad experience. They have an iPhone app that you use to take a bunch of pictures of an object and it's supposed to assemble a 3D model of it. No idea how precise it is, I'm sure it's not precise enough to model a pistol frame, especially the inside which the camera can't see well enough.
