View Full Version : Taurus PT 22 Very Nice

I recently picked up a used (looked new) Taurus PT 22, chromed with rosewood grips. I really like the looks of it.

This thing functions great, and is surprisingly accurate for a little pistol. It loves Blazer ammo as well as Remington Golden Bullets. Does not work very well with Federal Value pack. That is all I have tried.

Had an issue on my first trip out to the range on a very cold day where it would not work with the magazine filled to the 8 round capacity. I would get nose dives with the slide stuck to the rear. Loading one round less made it function perfectly. As I said, it was very cold out. My trigger was very slow at resetting, and I thought it could be an old lube issue. I took it to the sonic cleaner and put the frame and the magazine in the tank. This cured the trigger issue and the inability to load 8 rounds in the magazine.

After my second time out (functioned perfectly as stated above except with the Federal value pack), I noticed that the plastic buffer had cracked. Called Taurus and they immediately shipped out a new buffer, under their lifetime warranty, even though this is a wear item.

Ran it twice since the new buffer was put in, and it still runs perfectly on the Blazer and Remington ammo. The buffer is also still in excellent condition.

I love this little gem. Anyone else here have one?

Unfortunately, my experience with Taurus has been anything but good.......................so I stay away.....................friends don't let friends buy Taurus.

Now I remember why. (Memory has not been as good the past 4 years.) I just wanted to reply to your post in case nobody else did.

I have the PT22. I had a few nosedive early on. Maybe its related to the CW9? :D Since then, it's been pretty awesome with Federal, TAC-22, Aguila HV, and of course CCI. Later on, I picked up a Walther p22, and I thought I would like it much more. The p22 is a fine pistol, but the PT22 holds its own just fine against it.
