Walther ccp 9mm has anyone run across this yet seems to be a very interesting gun with gas blow back. I’m always looking just wondered if any of you have tried it or had a chance to handle this. The biggest thing I can see is the recoil spring is a lot softer than regular blow back. So racking the slide is a much easier task and someone with weak or injured hand this could be a benefit. Do think this is a ridged barrel just don't know how well it works but as I said interesting. So any thoughts?

The gas-retarded blow back action appears to be very close to the design on the HK P7 series of pistols. I had a P7M8 and it was a very soft shooting gun.

One of it's big advantages of the P7 was a low bore axis. But the Walther doesn't appear to have that low of a bore axis.

The P7 is known for getting hot during rapid fire. It has a metal frame, which conducts the heat from the gas cylinder into the trigger and frame. If the frame on the CCP is polymer, it may not have the heat issues of the P7. Not to mention weighting less than a metal frame.

Racking the slide should be easier than a locked breech gun, as you noted.

What do you mean by ridged barrel? Do you mean a fluted chamber, as on the P7?

What I should have said was fixed barrel

The only actual report of a owner is one that came from Germany on the Walther Forum, but it was at best a partial report. Here's a link;

Evidently the CCP has not yet gone on sale in the U.S., but is soon to hit the streets. My biggest question concerns the recoil spring. The HK uses a pretty heavy spring Versus the Walther lightweight spring. Is the difference in physics found in the weight of the slide? I doubt it. Will have to wait and see the first P7 and CCP comparison.

My other question is the reason to have a tool required to field strip. This is a big turn off for many people. I own other guns that require tools but I really don't like it.

Keeping the gas system clean could be a problem. I'm a proponent of the KISS system of gun design.
