She bought a gun to handle violence in Ferguson.
But she wasn’t ready to handle the gun.
Becca Campbell apparently shot herself in the head accidentally on Friday night with a gun she bought for self-defense, police sources told CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/23/us/ferguson-woman-kills-herself/index.html).
She died of the injury.

Campbell was riding in her 33-year-old boyfriend’s car, sources said, waving her gun around and joking that she was ready for Ferguson, referencing the violent protests (http://www.theblaze.com/news/ferguson/) that have wracked the Missouri town since August.
Her boyfriend allegedly told investigators that he ducked to avoid the gun before rear-ending another vehicle, which caused the gun to go off and left Campbell with a bullet in her head.
She died hours later in the hospital, CNN reported.

^^^^ +1. Foolish, reckless, irresponsible.....and sad.
Gun ownership comes with a lot of responsibilities. Learning how to use a gun safely to avoid injury to self and to others is critical, but often ignored. We don't like it when politicians create rules to protect us from ourselves, but this kind of behavior is what brings it on.

Sad deal. I find myself wondering if she purchased the gun for defense or offense.
That opening picture just makes me dream of riding in my van and putting the pedal to the metal.

Maybe a little off subject but I read the grand jury has reached a decision and going to have a news conference at 8:00 tonight.

I haven't felt safe at the range for a few weeks now. every idiot is buying a gun. the ceiling at the range is all shot out. be interesting to do a story about guns and their lives. gun is born at the factory, sits in the showcase, gets bought, goes somewhere and gets shot, gets carried for a few weeks, then ends up in a drawer or closet. I can't even hang out at my favorite gun store, can't keep a straight face while the salesman is showing pistol grip 12ga.'s to the idiots. I'm not going to the range and watch them shoot it either. plenty of that on youtube.
just found this, take it for what it's worth-- http://weaselzippers.us/206098-ferguson-protester-killed-with-her-own-gun/

You have to admit, if most of these fools would shoot themselves in the head, we'd have a lot less trouble................just sayin.........................

For the gun control nuts out there I point to this as an example of a self correcting problem.

Only if the Grand Jury comes back with a verdict of no bill. No justice. No piece. :)

Yeah, if the boyfriend gets off I'm planning on getting some new sneakers and a couple bottles of top shelf during the rioting.

can I go on my favorite rant?
the media does it, the police do it. somehow in these stories the word "accident" is used and that's just dead wrong. the correct word is "negligent". an accidental shooting would be if the gun just went off. a negligent shooting always involves the manipulation of the trigger, usually by a finger.
the 1911 is over 100 years old, please find a documented case where one went off accidentally. somewhere in 100 years there had to be at least one? no?
thank you.

I've always maintained there is no such thing as a gunshot accident.
