Liked my cw9 so much I bought a new cm9 a couple months ago. Planning to pocket carry with a kydex front pocket holster. Don't have the holster yet, but now I'm considering melting the slide, slide release lever and ejection port once the gun is broken in. Any others? Any specific spots on the slide? Will the sharp rear sight cause hang up problems? I was thinking about replacing the front sight with a big dot, but now wondering if such a big sight will cause hang up? Also, need recommendations for companies that do this. Don't want any coatings, etc., just melting. Never done anything like this before. Appreciate comments, warnings, recommendations, etc. For the melt job I want, what is a decent cost?
p.s. Finally got to take the cm9 to the range for a short 50 round session. Love this little gun!! It's very accurate; just as good as my cw9. About half way through I got a single FTE.

I don't have any issue with my PM9 hanging up. I use a "stays put" holster and can zing the pistol right out of my pocket. It has no melt or anything else on it. Glad you are liking your Kahrs.

I have no problems with my MK9 hanging up either. Comes right out of my Nemesis holster.
Using a DeSantis front pocket carry CM9 for years. No hangups. Did "melt" sharp edges on slide release and front edges of magazines which were sharp.
In my way of thinking, the front of the slide is fairly well melted, as it comes from the factory. However, there are two spots on the slide and one on the slide stop that could use attention.
The forward edge of the ejection port is rather sharp. Get rid of the shaprt edges. The rear of the ejection port, is also rather sharp (90 degreee) so is the rear edge of the port which has a 90 degree angle . It can be releived too.
And of course, the forward edge of the slide stop..
I dislike sharp edges on pistols in general and will most usually at least break the edges my carry guns. I've done this universally with my 1911's but haven't felt the need with the PM9. The leading edge of the slide is acceptable, the lower edge of the slide is protected by the polymer frame, and the ejection port and slide release don't present me with an issue. My two steel frame Kahrs, MK9 and K9, would need cleaning up if I routinely carried them, but I don't/haven't yet.

I'm curious about companies people recommend. I know of some, but am curious who actually did the work. I won't go to Cylinder & Slide, ROBAR is more GLOCK oriented and Accurate-Iron seems to be twmporarily unavailable.
Anyone got any others?

I really appreciate all the responses, and I'm very glad to hear holster or clothing hangup won't be a problem. I may do the melts recommended here. Any recommendations about tools, filing, sanding, buffing, etc. I wouldn't want to screw up a good gun and I've never attempted anything like this. And what about the finish on the stainless since it would be removed? One more thing that no one commented on... what about a big dot front sight as far as hangups?
p.s. I just ordered a kydex pocket holster off Ebay, made specifically for a cm9/pm9. Looks like it's well made for only $25 and change, plus free shipping. The guy also makes them for cw9. Check them out. They look like good quality and can't beat the price.

If you're not looking for something too extreme, you could probably do the work yourself with files and sand paper, then find someone local (gunsmith, machine shop, hobbyist, etc.) that would glass bead it for you. I knocked down the sharp edges on a CM9 then blasted it with 80 "grit' glass bead from Harbor Freight: http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?19656-Modifed-Customized-Bubba-d-my-CM9-*UPDATED*

I really really like what you did. Just enough, and not too much. Stippling is great and really highlights the overall appearance, and I love the smooth slide. Sure would like mine to look the same, but there is no way I would attempt that stippling. Maybe I'll tackle the melt job if I get some more specifics/info here first.

Greg's got it right. I use a Dremel for initial cut work and polishing but wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you're about. Refinish depends on what you want in the end. Simple bead blast works great for natural color stainless.
