Greetings fellow Kahr owners. I just bought a lightly used CM9 to replace a LCP that was stolen from my truck a couple of weeks ago. I took it to the range this weekend and put 50 rounds through it and was totally impressed with how accurate it is. Since I plan on keeping this as my primary CCW my question is what are top must have mods you would recommend? I have read that the 5 lb Wolff spring is a good mod. I also would like to either add a CT laser or a set of night sights and a grip enhancer. Any good advice with be much appreciated!

Zook, there are no necessary mods. The gun is good to go as is. The 5# pound striker spring is a viable option to lighten the trigger pull. I might use a slip on grip at the range, but isn't a good option for carry. In a gun fight if you take the time to look at your sights it will probably be the last thing that you do. Up close and personal you'll just point and shoot. A good holster is something to consider. Other than that just shoot it like you stole it. Invest in ammo. Lots of it.

Thanks for the advice Muggs and to address the grip question...I'm wondering if training with a grip is a good idea if I'm not going to be carrying with it? I know its not a big deal shooting it with or without, just wondering what yours and others thoughts are about this.

No problems here, carrying with a grip enhancer...............................

I have a CT laser on my CM45. Like muggsy said, you may not have time to line up the sights, so the laser gives me a good idea where my shot is going to go.

Kahr polymer pistols have very aggressive grips. Some shooters have very sensitive hands. My problem with slip on grips is that they can slide upwards and cover the magazine release. In a gun fight I may have to reload, but it's doubtful that I'll shoot enough to irritate my hands. Stick on grips are a better option than slip on grips. Wearing a shooting glove when you practice is even a better option. In a gun fight with your adrenaline pumping, I doubt that your grip will be much of a concern, but that's just my humble opinion.

I agree that at least 90% of the time its going to be a draw and shoot situation, but the one and only time I have had to "draw" my weapon was when I was being approached by a guy who had just cut me off in a parking lot in my hometown in southeast Alabama. He was cross cutting the parking lot at a strip center where I was pulling in for lunch. I had to slam on brakes to keep from hitting him and raised my hands like what the heck?!? The guy was driving a low rider pickup with California plates and looked to be a large 30ish Hispanic fellow. He gave me a menacing stare and slowly pulled away, I continued ahead and parked in front of the diner. Next thing I know I see this large Mexican in the side view mirror fast pacing it up to my drivers side window! I quickly slipped my Glock 17 onto my lap pointed it towards the drivers door and engaged the LazerMax internal laser. As I rolled the window down the guy started cursing at me. I rolled the red dot up into his eyes and low and behold the guys eyes pop of of his head and he says....uuuuhhhh SORRY! I just came over to apologize for cutting you off sir.

I think Traction Grips are a great addition, especially at under $10. They make the gun feel a lot better to me, while adding pretty much zero additional thickness. I have a LaserMax, but this gun is new, so I have limited experience with the laser, but for a carry piece, it might be a pretty good idea in low light. I also ordered some Pearce magazine extended floor plates, but I haven't received them yet to know if I prefer them over the factory flat metal plates.
For my use, pocket carry, the stock trigger seems fine. If it were a target gun, I may prefer it lighter, but as a carry gun, probably not.

What, you don't like the zombie killer color?:o It's a Hogue Handall jr...............yes, they come in black. The only reason for the color, is it's also a night stand gun, and the grip glows in the dark, so I can see it, if I need it. I didn't have to do any trimming, and it doesn't slip. It also doesn't affect the mag release, although it's close. Feels good in hand. Feels great when shooting.

Staring down the barrel of a loaded pistol somehow commands instant respect... though not at all funny at the time, I still LMAO thinking about how quickly the guy changed his aggressive attitude. It was so bizarre I have to think the guy was on drugs to have reacted that way in the first place.

I understand why you did what you did, but, in my state, I would have probably gone to the nearest police station and reported the incident. If I would have done what you did, and the guy would have gotten my plate number and reported me, for aiming a handgun at him, at the least, I could have been charged with brandishing, as he didn't attack you. Could have lost my license for ever. I definitely would have had the firearm in my lap, but pointing without provocation, could land me in very hot water.

I understand what you are saying, thats why after he backed off, I backed out of my parking spot and got close enough to get his tag number then called it in to the police to report the incident. I also stayed on the phone with the police and followed him from a distance and relayed his location and within 3 minutes he was surrounded by the boys in blue at a gas station a block from where the incident occurred.
Its a fairly small S.E. Alabama town where I lived at the time, I grew up there and know most local LEOs so I wasn't too worried. My POPO buddy who was working the call came over to my truck and asked me if I had pointed a lasered Glock at the guy, who obviously had told him I had (surprised he saw enough detail to recognize it was a Glock.... guess that image was etched into his brain). I said you damn right I did, I was sitting in my truck minding my own business and wasnt taking a chance on a jacked up Californian Mexican drug dealer kicking my *** or shooting me. He laughed his *** off and said good job! Last I saw they were cuffing him and loading him into the car so he had outstanding "issues".

In the big city, a person usually doesn't get to know too many LE officers, because they come and go, retire, etc. Here, lets just say, that there is a dungload full of testosterone flying around in the local LE. If someone would report me for pointing a firearm at them, it would not be a good day for me, even if I had done nothing wrong. The troops would have come to my house, no doubt. You were fortunate to be in a small town. No knock on LE, so, don't start sending cards and letters.:p

Its against the law not to own a gun where I come from....that and we don't have an overabundance of Mexican Thugs raising hell at law abiding local business owners like myself....wasn't a bit worried. I do feel for guys who live in places like you do though. I just moved to Texas so as far as gun rights go, I count that an upgrade.

If my gun clears the holster it is going to be fired. Repeatedly. Never use a gun to warn or threaten. It makes you the aggressor.

If u gotta shoot someone, make damn sure he is whte. Just sayin Best case scenario is to leave the gun in ur pocket, Crazy racists al sharpton is still stirring the pot . I read where Sir Charles Bartley just made enemies out of his race buy agreeing with the grandjury stestimony and calling the rioters thugs. Kudos to sir charles, IMO, beats what those 5 Rams players did this sunday...

I have heard this statement made many times, but sorry, but I respectfully disagree. I'm not advocating doing what I did, but would not advise anyone to have their weapon remain holstered 100% of the time in every scenario, it's a matter of discretion given the situation. LEOs are trained to and frequently do un-holster their weapons when a real threat to their safety occurs to be ready to deal with an escalating situation. As I said in an earlier post, this was the first time in my 58 years on this earth that I felt it wise to do what I did and I do not regret it. I never raised my gun from my lap, when he started cursing me and stuck his head in my window I tilted it so he knew I was prepared should things get ugly. I cannot say that if I felt threatened enough to draw my weapon I would automatically empty my gun on an aggressor. I would not want to take a person's life if there was any other option.

Ok back on topic...any other must have mods?
I haven't done it on my PM9 yet, but for a carry piece it seems rounding off the slide release lever will spare your holster/pants/etc some wear.
Adding a CT laser is probably the closest thing to "must-have" if your gun already functions as it should.
Although, some people need to do a little modding to get mags to drop free which some have claimed the gun was not designed to do.

So far my gun has been flawless, I bought it used with a reported 150 rounds through it and I fed it another 50 without a hitch. My mag drops free every time, do most of y'alls drop free?
Talon Grips.
The Talon grips seem real popular, may be a must have for me too.

I do love mine the way it is but I have a hard time leaving anything "stock". Maybe that comes from being a Harley owner. :p

I do use the Talon stick on grips and like them a lot. They don't add any thickness and they do feel good. Have the Pearce grips on a couple of mags but can't really say they help anything. Shot it a couple of years without them and got used to it I guess.

This is only me, but I don’t like rubber grips where you grab the gun it stays and if in the wrong spot you have a lot of re-griping to do. What I have been doing is to place a piece of matte finish scotch tape on the back strap to seems to slide the best, this way the web of your hand can slide all the way up the grip. That’s my 2 cents it has to be replaced once in awhile but works for me and nothing done to the gun

There is only one life that I'm concerned about and that's my own. If someone is stupid enough to tempt fate, I'm stupid enough to shoot them multiple times. There is no second place winner in a gun fight. I'm not going to give them the opportunity to put even one into me. A LEO un-holsters his gun, because he may have to use it. I only un-holster my gun when I'm going to use it.

I had a Hogue Handall Jr. on my cw9 but when I got the cm9 I put it there. I had to trim the rubber a little to keep it well below the mag release, but some surgery with an exacto knife is easy. It doesn't slip at all and won't affect the mag release either.

I recently acquired a CM9. I polished the barrel, filed the ejection port edges, added a Pachmyr grip (a bit too tacky) and polished the sides of the slide. I polished the inside and outside of the magazines and made sure there were no burrs.
