I just got a set in the mail today, and I'll not be using them. Do they do what they are mainly supposed to do? Yes, they do give you a better pinky purchase on the gun, so from that stand point they work as intended, so I'm not knocking the product for what it is, but for what is more important to me, and that is overall size, and not looking like I made a DIY mag extension. The fact they look dumb is more because of how the Kahr mags stick out, but it still looks dumb.

Yes, the Kahr is still shorter in length, lighter, slimmer, and still easier to carry than the Ruger or Sccy CPX2, but it's taller with the Pearce mag plates, and that's no good to me. I bet it feels better at the range, but this is for CC purposes, and the shorter height is key.

Here are a few pics stock next to my Ruger SR9c and the Kahr is quite a bit shorter, but oddly doesn't look near as much thinner as it actually is. Note: The Ruger does have a modified pinky extension (similar to the M&P compacts, that I did on a belt sander) as they are stupid long as they come from the factory.

Here they are with the Pearce grip extension on the Kahr. The Kahr is actually a bit taller, but the photo makes it seem the same or slightly less because of the distance from the camera lens to the highest point:

Because of the way the Kahr mags don't sit flush, they really do look hokey, DIY at best:

I need a new plan as I don't really prefer the bright steel base plates, maybe some modded Kahr poly plates are the ticket. Again though, the Pearce are not junk, they just won't work for me, and it was a cheap lesson so all is good.:)

I can"t tell from your pics how you modded your Ruger extensions but have you thought about modding the Pearce's? Some of us have tried this:

Or can't we run any full size standard plate?

Aside from possibly getting an unreliable one that needs some modding, why wouldn't you get in an extra round with a 7-round mag if you want a place for your pinky?

I'm going to forgo the pinky extension. That was originally part of it, but now I know I prefer the mag without it. I still don't like the bright metal base plate as it sits though, and would prefer a poly base plate.

Kahr does sell a black steel or black poly baseplate

A can of spray black will change it.

I went ahead and ordered a couple of poly ones for a TP9 to try out.

I found them useless. On my first range trip I left one of my two mags without the extension. I liked the idea of more grip, but it added nothing to my accuracy so they're sitting back in the package in my junk drawer.

I thought the gun even felt weird. Still really short in the back, and then long in the front. Dimensionally, the gun just felt awkward, and it looks awkward. I could see how you could not see any accuracy advantage, I feel like I'd have shot it worse, although I never shot it with them on there.

Oh well, at least they were pretty cheap.

At least you learned something. I, too, tried such extensions on my TCP but it did nothing for shootability so I sold them off. For the Kahrs, I would be a little more concerned about wrenching the mags with each shot given how sensitive Kahr mags seem to be.
