I got my CM9 back from Kahr with the rampectomy, and all was well. As I looked closely I noticed my Personal defense ammo came exceedingly close to the inside of the slide stop - less than 1mm. I decided to shave a little off to give it some leeway that way it's never an issue.

Well, whoopsie, shaved a bit too much off. There's no chance of the bullet activating the slide release anymore, but now there's also no way the magazine will lock it back on empty lol!! Took a little too much off.

Im not that concerned since I don't carry an extra magazine (or even have one), and thus not locking back on empty isn't much of an issue, but I'll order another one and try not to give it as much of a haircut nsxt time :)

No real harm there -- live and learn. :)

Yeah. My concern is preventing the gun from ever prematurely locking back while firing -- and since I don't carry an extra magazine I really wasnt too concerned if I took too much off as the only thing it would impact is locking back on empty.

No matter though, I'll get the new one and take a little less off and see if I can find the happy medium.

^^^Exactly. Definitely give it another go...

Will do.

Does anyone have a pic showing how much clearance there should be? I have tons with FMJ, but not much with JHP -- hence why I trimmed it.

Was you gun locking back prematurely? If not, it ain't broke, so don't fix it. Why do people always go out of their way to look for trouble?

agree... There is never alot of clearance between the rounds and the slide stop lever. If it clears, leave the fokker alone. If it hits some rounds, then IMO just change rounds to get the results u want,I am of the notion that u "file" when u have an issue, not to now create a issue. Just order a new slide stop and get the gun back to how it should be.

Fair enough....

Anyhow took it to the range today and stuffed another 150 rounds of ammo through it without a single failure. God I love this gun.

It happened to me too, and I had to get another slide stop from Kahr... The second one I modified is working perfectly, though.

First of all- you should most definitely have some spare mags. If you have a problem with that one, your gun becomes useless.

Second of all- it is wise to consider carrying an extra mag. You never know what can happen- and does it really take up a lot of space? Is it really that much of a bother?

Carry a spare mag.

I definitely understand the merits of carrying an extra magazine, but my experience has yielded no need for it and as such I don't. The extra space it takes isn't much, but I could carry a larger gun with more capacity and still take up less space than a sub compact and an extra magazine.

Don't get me wrong -- im not against you or anyone else carrying an extra magazine - what you or anyone else carries is a supremely personal decision and one that is best made by yourself and your loved ones for your specific needs. I won't lecture ANYONE about it. Ever.

For me 7 rounds of 9mm is adequate for my threat assessment and experiences in use.

Your ur mileage may vary.

god bless and be safe.

If you only carry one gun you should definitely carry a spare mag. I carry a CM9 in my waistband. My spare mag is in the P380 that's in my pocket. :)

I carry my cm9 in my right pocket and 2 loaded magazines in my left front pocket. That's one thing I like about single stack magazines. Same even when carrying my government model .45.

Now that's one way to carry an extra mag! LOL!

It's not a laughing matter if you run out of bullets in the middle of a gun fight or are attacked by more than one assailant. Bad things happen to good people who aren't prepared.

I know they do :)

For me and my threat assessment and experiences I've had, one magazine works for me. Not hating on anyone who carries more
