Hello everyone.

I recently bought a Kahr CM40 and I am finally getting a chance to break it in. I have followed the sticky on breaking in a new Kahr. I have put approx. 60 rounds through it and I am having a problem with the slide locking back on the first three, sometimes the first two, shots. After the first two or three shots, the CM40 cycles normally. I am not making contact with the slide stop ! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

According to the Kahr Q&A site : Either the slide stop spring is damaged or it is a broken follower. Please call 508-795-3919 and ask for replacements.

Did you buy your pistol in time for the free magazine promotion? With two magazines it gives you the opportunity to compare.

The slide stop spring could be slightly out of adjustment too.

Some bullet configurations contact the slide stop as well. Usually just a tiny bit of the lever can be removed and all will be well.

I think there's a thread in the tech section fixes for the CW45 which has some good photo's of this condition and how to fix it.

We'll get ya through this. Count on that.

Many thanks for the reply Bawanna.

I stripped the magazine to find that the magazine spring was not properly installed, I also found that the magazine follower pin contacts the magazine tube at the upper end of the tube. The magazine spring also has a slight twist. The follower is fine, excepting the pin protrusion. After assembly, loading was much easier. Test fired a full magazine without lock up. Second full magazine had slide lock up every other shot.

Removing the slide, I found that the slide stop pin is rubbing on the slide stop spring screw slightly. As for the slide stop spring, it appears that there is very little spring tension on the slide stop pin landing.

After I get the proper position of the slide stop spring, I will test fire again.

Thanks for the reply. See my reply to Bawanna's post. I missed the free magazine by a few days.

Heres a link to one of the sticky's that I think Bawanna referenced. Some great pix in the thread. http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?14749-CW45-(and-other-poly-45)-issues-and-fixes&highlight=cw45+slide+stop+spring

I'm sure Kahr would send replacement parts.

I found the sticky and adjusted the tension on the slide stop spring per the instructions and fired a full magazine without any slide lock !

I did find that when tightening the slide stop spring screw the slide stop spring had a tendency to rotate. There is a fine balance between screw tightening, spring rotation, and not stripping the frame.

Thanks again.
