My son in law asked me and I can't decide....if you could only pick one and these were the only option...which would you chose?

It depends as they are Apple and Oranges. The Glock 20, 10mm has a substantial recoil that takes quite a lot of regular practice to manage. Not to mention the ammo can be hard to find and expensive. The XD does not come in a 10mm. In the same caliber have him shoot both and see what he likes better.

I'd get a good knife and fill my pockets with rocks..................

Get the Glock 21 and a extra 10mm barrel to your length and options... cheaper than two, but gives you both options for calibers. You can use the Kriss expansion kit for both calibers to give you 30 round capacity.

If those were my only two choices, I would go with the XD45. The grip on Glocks just don't feel right in my hand. The grip safety on the XD is could be a good thing. Both seem to hold 13+1 rounds, at least in .45, not sure how many the .10mm holds, but that's plenty of firepower.
The grip safety on the XD shouldn't be a bother. At times I've wished there was safety on my Kahrs, when holstering them when I have my holster around back at about kidney position. I just stick my finger behind the trigger, then get the pistol started into the holster and take my finger out as it's sliding into the holster. Seems to work ok. Probably better than having a manual safety to fool with on the gun.

Personally, I can vouch for the XDm .45 with 4.5" barrel. If you feel the need for some 10mm performance from that gun, get some Double Tap 450 SMC rounds which should equal that of the 10mm cartridge.

Thanks for responses, it is not for me. He has a guy offering these 2 both at really good prices. It is understood, one is a 45 and one is 10mm. Both should have pretty good knock down power, both carry close to same round count. The Glock also comes with Wolf conversion to 40 barell. Both come with 6 mags.

The XD grip safety is the main reason I'll never own one. Well and the fact these used to be $300 guns until Springfield put their name on it and jacked the price up 100%.

Because of that, I had to vote for the Glock.

Tell him to go out and shoot them both and then decide. The best handgun in the world, no if's, and's or but's about, is pretty much useless to me if it doesn't feel right in my hands, plain and simple. Whichever one feels the best to him is the answer, not what anyone of us can tell you.

I'm fond of 10mm, so I'd say the Glock.

I have a Glock and a XDm .45. If I had to sell one the Glock would go first. Everyone I see shooting a 10mm worries more about finding their brass than how they are shooting the gun.
