I think it looks quite a bit better. The mags lock in just fine, especially with the slide open, but requires a little bit more effort than before if empty, it's very little difference, and it locks in better with the magazine full than empty which is the way it should be loaded. I used the Pearce grip plastic bases under the springs, I didn't order those from Kahr, and they seem to work just fine, but I know the metal ones don't too much.

I sanded off the bottom lip because it kind of dug into my pinky, then went over the whole base plate with a Scotch Brite pad to knock down the shine a little, and smooth the sanded area. I've seen this before, so I know I'm not the first to do it, but anyway I did it.

I was already on Kahrs website when I order the base plates, figured I may as well get one of these:

Wish I'd known. I'm about to order some metal plates from Kahr to replace the plastic ones on my CT mags.

You did a very nice job. Good for show and tell. I just couldn't see the expense for a gun designed not to be seen. I mean the perp might see it briefly, but they aren't very critical about what they get shot with. :)

I tried that with P9 base plates. They worked fine with no modification, but they seemed to significantly add bulk to the little PM9.

I did that with mine (before I sold it). I have small hands and that little extra allowed me to get my pinky on the grip.

I left the metal base plate on my other mag so I can switch them back and forth to make sure I like it. If I decide to go back to the metal ones, at least these base plates were only $8, so not a ton of money wasted. I do think it looks better, but even though it's only a few millimeters longer, it seems like more than that.

I did the same thing today -- and also moved the metal base to my second magazine in case I switch back.

I happen to like the metal base plates. To me they look less bulky with a cleaner look. I just wish they fit flush/better like at the front end of the grip instead of slanting at the back to reveal more of the mag. Anybody got a fix for that with metal plates?

I'm not sure which I like better either. :)

After going back and forth between the two, I think I prefer the metal base plates too. I guess Kahr knows what they're doing more than me.

89grand, you did a very nice job with your mod. It certainly looks better than the original plastic base plates. Like I said, I just like the looks of the metal plates, but I wish that slanted gap could be fixed. I don't think something that just fills up the gap would look as nice as if the mag itself could be modified to eliminate the gap. Come up with a fix for that and lots of Kahr owners will be very grateful. Personally, I don't have the skill or the patience to create something like that, but I sure will steal a good idea if someone does it first. Surely, Kahr is aware of all the complaints. I wish they would address it themselves.

I like it. Thanks for sharing.
