Well, ditched the plastic stock that came on the rifle and put some wood furniture on it. Turned out nice i think after a good sanding and a couple of coats of BLO.. Hopefully I'll get to shoot it tomorrow with the new stock to check out the accuracy.

Did you build the stock from scratch? If so, that's very nice work.

It's very nice even if he bought it off the rack. My guess is Boyds.

Fine looking wood my friend. I love it very much.

Boyds stock from Fulton armory. I ordered some parts, saw the stocks, and had to have one.

Boyd's makes some really fine stocks. I've finished several of them and they never disappoint.

Hey I love my wood.... !

What happened to the end of your barrel? Where'd it go!!!!

Sorry... hadda.... full size M1A - with what appears to be new, but mil production wood here. Got it in late 80's new... so can't say for sure.

Between the 16 inch barrel and the compensator that comes on it that sucker is loud for bystanders. Not as bad for the shooter though. Had it for about a year now and had to ditch the limp noodle stock. Couldnt see paying 75 plus for a usgi fiberglass stock when i could get nice wood for 95.

Blue steel and wood just naturally go together. Nothing looks better on a gun that oil finished walnut. A tiger stripe maple stock runs a distant second.

Shot with the new stock this AM. Groupings are better than with the cheapo plastic stock. Happy, happy, happy.

Looks much better with the wood. And I'll even add, the wife always like real wood over plastic:ohmy:

Oh great. Another gun for my "must get" list. ;-)

The wife was a bit miffed when I caught the BRD after reading the AR forums, but she might go for the wood.

Seriously, that is a really bad boy you got there. Love me some compact rifles.

Your post brought me back to Marine Corps boot camp, September of 1962. One night after Taps and lights out our drill instructors had us put blankets over the barracks windows so that we could work on refinishing the stocks on our M14s. Senior DI Staff Sgt. Pike had the Platoon do a similar stripping and re-staining and polishing of our dress shoes. Staff Sgt. Pike was into his platoons always winning the series drill competition. Drilling was his thing even over how well we did at the rifle range compared to other platoons.
