So I'm an olde War 2 baby...grew up with anything War 2. My father and all my uncles served. I wound up a "Cold Warrior" Semper Fi.

So was attracted to the Chiappa .22 M1 Replica and was researching it on line...considering it...then walked into my LGS last week and danged if he hadn't ordered one in with the walnut stock. I was powerless and bought it.

Took it out to the range and was disappointed in that it was "just a .22" and had that "plastic" sound. But, what the heck, it looked good and made me feel good to look at it.

This week I'm in Flagstaff and stopped by Horizon Shooters and there is an Auto Ordinance M1 carbine...a REAL one....dang....felt that pull... that NEED..to have it. Course the owner is coaching me, "Shouldn't you own what you like?"

So now I own a .22 and a .30 replica M1 Carbine....got the later home last night and oiled it up for the range today then found out the cowboy action folks have the range today...so maybe tomorrow....I can stand the wait...I really can...

Came to this forum to learn what I'll need to know to drive this puppy.

M-1s are a lot of fun to shoot. My dad had one that he converted to shoot the .223 Rem. round.

I enjoyed shooting the M1 carbine too while in basic training with the USAF and annually for familiarization during my enlistment. As I recall, not a match rifle but fun to shoot and easy on the shoulder. Congrats on you picking one up! Enjoy!

I have an AO too. That's the one gun that I simply cannot slow fire. It's just too much fun to dump the whole mag. Pop cans beware. ;)

For awhile there I could not find .30 cal ammo. But it's back in stock now so I can shoot away.

I have a WWII original manufactured by Quality Hardware and Machine. Thing is mint, man that gave it to me along with his 1942 issued 1911 must never have taken it out of the canvas carry bag it came in along with the 2 extra mags. I think he must have drove a desk or something, not sure. 45 was well used but not abused.

I've never shot this one, always figured I would one day, just never done it yet. Sure a light handy rifle to have around.

If we could ever find 22 again, I'd love to have a 22 version.
