View Full Version : Glock single stack 9mm Model 40
I saw an interesting set of pictures at the range couple of days ago. It was a Glock model 40, single stack 9mm. It's bigger than the 42 with a 1.02 inch slide I think. I have no other details because it was quite busy in there.
It reminded me very very much of the S&W M&P Shield. Smith & Wesson look out, big time competition is coming in January if this early info is correct.
OOPS..........Looks like I should have put this under the "Other firearms" topic. Sorry. I'm using my newbe card this time.

I read Glock purposely skipped naming anything the Glock 40, do to the term "Glock 40" being synonymous with a 40 caliber Glock. If Glock has designed a single stack 9mm, it will be a big announcement, and the likelihood of a leak is slim.

There's a single stack market there for Glock to expand in to. I suspect they are working on it. On the other hand they will be up for some stiff competition as well: Shield, Kahr, etc. If they want to compete with Kahr, they will need to be very small and very precise...things that Glock is not known for. On the OTHER other hand they will have a lot of loyal followers chomping at the bit. Choice is good.

I agree with your assessment totally, but if you saw these pictures, there was a very real looking GLOCK 40 on that slide. This range has had scoops before, and could be connections at Glock also. I'll believe him till he burns me. Hasn't happened yet, but I'm admitting the possibility of a spoof. We'll see next month.

If Glock builds it they will sell in droves to the kool aid drinkers/.

I don't doubt it will eventually happen, but I really don't see it being named the Glock 40....
Truthfully I have been hearing single stack Glock 9mm coming in January '15 since early summer. Since the 42 came out actually.

I don't need a Glock Fotay, or any other Glock. I already like the CM9 for CCW, and I prefer my Ruger SR9 and SR9c to the Glock 17 and 19.

I want them to create a small Glock chambered in 22 Short and call it the Glock 40.

No doubt Glock will eventually produce a single stack 9mm, but in light of the problems with the Gen4s and the problems with the 380 model, the Glock 42, I would wait a year before considering buying a new Glock model. If you want a Glock-like single stack 9mm check out the Walther PPS. It's been out for several years and is a proven design. It's built to very high standards.

I already dislike the glock grip and have no use for a late to the part single stack . But all the glock boys out there will want one.

Have not kept up with Glock problems, so not aware of what issues the G42 is having. I had one and it fed a variety of ammo with absolutely no issues and never any failures.
Just couldn't get used to the type trigger in order to attain the accuracy I expected so I traded it for an LC9s...which has also been flawless in the several hundred rounds put thru it. Later got the CW380 and while its not been flawless, its few failures have been minor. Not ready yet to trust my life with it tho.........

Single stack 9 ? I think of my cw9 ,it would be hard to replace it. It's accurate ,I feel very safe packing it , totally trust the trigger ,I can get a good grip on it , good sights, low recoll and falls right back on target, best self defense pistol made. Man I'm going to have to go shoot it now.

My bad experience w the g42 is what made me trade it for a PM9. The PM9 has proven to be reliable and accurate, though I like Glocks and have 3 of them, not sure if I would get a SS to replace my Kahr.

I like lots of different guns. My signature line proves that. I have a Glock 19 Gen3 that is a very good weapon. I have polished all the internals and modified the extractor so it is 100% reliable and modified the frame and it runs great for me. I had to undercut the triggerguard next to the frontstrap as the first finger groove isn't spaced right. The raised part was in the middle of my social finger. With the undercut all is well. I also removed the hideous hook from the front of the triggerguard and made it round more like a 1911. The trigger is still a Glock trigger but it breaks very cleanly. It has no aftermarket parts in it.

I was a Glock guy for awhile.
But my G27 started misbehaving at around 7K rounds (FTF).
I'm thinking it's likely mag springs.
But I've never had to replace mag springs in my Kahr, Sig or HK guns?!?
Plus the Glock required new RSAs at about 3K - LOL.
Not really interested in disposable Glocks anymore.:(:(:(

I'm guessing most folks missed the humor of your post. It gave me a chuckle, though.

I'd agree it's most likely mag springs. Replace them with Wollfs.
