Well the BATFE is now clarifying its SIG Brace ruling. I am surprised it took this long. What the latest letters state is that the brace is legal ONLY IF IT IS USED AS DESIGNED. If you shoulder the weapon with an Arm Brace then you have an SBR and must abide by all those rules.

This is great. So as long as there aren't any BATF dudes around they are still ok to use properly!

Shocked it took this long,I was surprised they didn't say that in the first place.

That depends. At a local range I am a member of they told all staff that if they saw a shooter shouldering a brace equipped weapon the shooter was to be asked/ordered to fire it correctly or they would be removed and banned for life.

Me too and I said so from the very beginning.

Yeah many times they have tried to make ranges and gun shops their enforcers. Doesn't happen very often.

Most range owners are still pretty real and are far more on the average guys side than federal tell us what to do agents.

I don't need to worry, I don't have a wrist stock and probably never will but don't mean I wouldn't if I could ya know?

Me, also. Been looking hard at the MPX and wondering there was no Fed whining about the pistol with brace design.

I've deleted this post because it contained incorrect information.

SIG is still fighting this battle. I predicted months ago they will lose it. I still believe they will and these "updated" letter further confirms it.

I wish they would just remove SBR's from the NFA list and be done with it, its kind of silly and outdated to me.... I mean really, anyone with a hack saw can make one in a hurry ahahah
the criminals don't care if they are legal anyways, so I don't see the point.

Excuse me, but I'm a little confused here. Why would any law abiding citizen want to use a braced gun in an illegal manner? If I didn't like a law I'd work to have it changed. I wouldn't violate it and risk criminal penalties.

the best explanation I heard somewhere was "If hammers were Illegal and you used a heavy wrench to drive a nail, does that now make the wrench Illegal?"

Its just a silly situation all around, you can have a slide fire stock and shoot basically full auto but don't dare shoulder that semi auto pistol with a sig brace....

just nonsense.....

allot of guys on youtube do it on video, so i guess they will be going to jail ahahah

Well......This range also does not allow Full Auto unless you are firing one of their weapons using ammo you purchased from them. Also if you show up with an SBR or suppressor you MUST have your BATFE paperwork or you cannot fire them. That paperwork demand is common at EVERY range in my state. Insurance regulations I am told.

The ranges are then hatchet men for the G--sad.... and boot licking pole puffers for the insurance industry--sad again. Still better than Kaliforni though so I will shut the f up

I think you have to have the paperwork for and SBR or Full Auto together all the time, leastways that's what I was told.

If your stopped or encounter LE, you need to document that you jumped through the hoops etc.

Muggsy sure is the choir boy this morning ain't he. Talks like a little angel.

I've been a choir boy all of my life. It served to keep me out of prison. If the range doesn't abide by the rules they can lose their livelihood and you lose a place to shoot. If you violate the rules you run the risk of becoming a convicted felon. But, hey, we all have choices to make in life. :)

Ok, ok where's the real Muggsy. Somebody has hacked into his body and reversed the polarity or something, swapped ends so to speak.

I'll arrange for an exorcism immediately if not a bit sooner.

I was just settin at the bench pondering putting a full size stock on my Mares Leg. Don't have the stock but not difficult to get one.

If you get a letter from Folsom, somebody send me a cake.

You are quite correct. Anytime the NFA item is outside its storage location the NFA requires the person to have all paperwork with them at all times. Even going to and from the range/gunsmith etc. The ranges policies are perfectly inline with the NFA and it has been that way at every range I have ever gone to.

I agree. All these folks out there just ignoring the law and doing whatever the hell they want is just wrong.

I did have my body seriously snatched back in the day. That ended up bein' my first wife. Second and third I did the snatching. Fourth, and current, I regained my sanity, returned to my roots, and let her do the work.....good with that now for the past 28 years.
