I bought a CW9 last year. We have this stupid thing going on in state that was causing our inability to buy a CM9. I had always wanted a tiny pistol so I tried to sell the CW9 so that I could buy a CM9. No luck on that sale since apparently no one around here likes Kahrs. I was apprehensive about dumping more money into another gun, so I was trying to figure out a solution to make my CW9 more concealable. I was running ideas through my mind and wondered if it was possible to use a CM9 mag in a CW9 frame. I started researching and came across quite a few that had already done this mod. This gave me a little more confidence and I went forward with it.

Took it for a spin yesterday and I am very happy with how all this turned out.

So a big thank you to everyone who has posted threads before about this mod for the info. :)

Very nicely done. I do have a factory made P9 Covert that I have had for over 10 years that is great.

Good work. Always like to see a "new" gun.
I'd like to get a CW9 for my next Kahr, but just want to change out the mag's plastic base plate for a flush SS one.

One last pic. Found some more inspiration within these pages and decided to polish the slide, internals, and mags up. As much as I liked JFootin's slide, I wanted to keep the top plane oem finish. I started with 800grit on a plate of glass to try to keep everything even. That's when I found a weird low spot about 2 inches long on each side of the slide at the point of the ejection port. I ended up hand sanding since I didn't want to take off too much material, and the spots of the oem finish were just not going away. I had taken it down to a polish wheel but like many other folks, I found the polish to be annoying for finger prints. So I backed it off, did a quick 600, 800, 1000 set and ended up where I am now. I did polish the mags with the dremel since the metal there is less consistent.
I wanted to just do the high flats of the sides of the slide. I did straight 600 grit on the upward angles and finished the sides with a quick hand polish, nothing too deep.

Really like how this guy came out.

I did the same polish job on my CM9. Turns a base model into an upper end model with little effort. I'll guess based on the "stupid thing going on in state that was causing our inability to buy a CM9", you live in Massachusetts?

Nope. California. Could have gotten one with a little work, but it took the $299 asking price from PSA and made it $420 OTD and I was only allowed one firearm before the end of the year. :)
I'd be interested in seeing your CM9. :)

Where can I find the SS base plate for a P45 and CW9 mag? Both have grips long
enough that I'd like to get ride of the plastic protruded plate.

Dunno about the 45, but the 9 mags are here:

I didn't go this route, as I just bought CM9 mags which came with the metal plates. Be aware that the metal baseplates on the regular CW9 mag will hang about 1/8" off the bottom of the grip. It is still lower profile than the plastic plate, but it isn't flush.
