Hi All,

After reading about problem after problem, I thought it may be good to talk about my positive experience with my CM9. I am not new to Kahr and have had a bad K9 (had the NATO barrel from the factory), two bad PM9's and one great PM9. Fortunately, I'm now up to a 40% success rate :) I put 235 rounds through my new CM9: 100 WWB, 100 Federal Champion, a few PMC Bronze and some Speer Gold Dots (124 grain, standard pressure). I cleaned it between range trips with the first trip consisting of only 100 rounds. It chewed on the Gold Dots like they were bacon for guns. The gun shot great, though I suck with it compared to my Glocks.

K9, CW45 (since sold), MK9 (since sold), PM45 all with minor to no problems.

My CM9 flawless, CM40 flawless. A few FTRB and failure of slide to lock back (less than 10 total) on my CW380 during first 100 rounds. The CW380 is now 100%. Simply understanding that small guns with super tight tolerances need to be smoothed out. With that being said, I would not expect the same out of my Sig 226 as its large with greater space between the moving parts and a less steep feed ramp.

500+ rounds through my K40...no issues at all. 200+ through my wife's CW9...no issues at all.

I'm breaking in a CM45, and after 100+ rounds, it smoothing out very nicely. I don't recall any failures in the last 4 magazines, 2 5 round and 2 6 round.
The only thing It needs is a bit of filling on the barrel hood that is keeping unfired cartridges from being ejected if they are a bit long. My CW40 had the same problem.

K40 - not a single hiccup even when I tried to cause one
MK9 - is a little sensitive to over lubrication and is easy to limpwrist but runs 100% with a good grip
CM45 - just finished the break in and is still getting smoother but is currently running 100%. This one likes to run wet.

I have a pm9 that's been good out of the box and now has over 4,500 flawless rounds through it. Eaten every ammo I put in it, no failures to feed, fire or eject. Could not be more happy with it! :)

I have a CM9 which is my EDC, and has run flawlessly since day one. Now over 2,000 rounds, all kinds, and I trust my life every day to it. I have tried other carry guns, but none have beaten out my CM9. I will probably get a CM45 this Spring, just waiting on the bugs to get worked out.

CW9-light primer strikes early on. A good cleaning of the striker channel, a new recoil spring and shooting more rounds fixed it.
K40-never an issue.
CW45-never an issue.
CW380-never an issue.

I have put 100 rounds of 230 wwb fmj and 100 rounds of 230 monarch brass fmj without problems. The punched out target above was done with 2 mags of monarch ammo at 7 yrds. After the break in period, I tried some wwb jhp and within 30 rounds I experienced 3 ftfs of which I account to bad ammo as the primer had very good indention. In conclusion, It has been the best money ($350) Ive spend on a handgun.

That's some really nice shooting.

My PM9 when new had a few issues but with help from folks here and parts from Kahr I got it all sorted out. PM9 is now far and away my main carry.

^^^ Same with my CW45. Paid $350. Shoots to POA . One big hole (big bullets). Does not like all ammo. 100% with ball and PowerBall

Hello my fellow Kahr brutha's,

I'm an Army veteran (Desert Storm era) and I wanted to say hello to all of you good people and fellow Kahr enthusiasts..
I'm brand new to these sweet lil pocket rockets. My full size is a Springfield Armory XDm40 (4.5" bitone beauty) which is my primary home defender & is the best pistol I've been lucky enough to own & a dream to shoot very well. However, I wanted a lightweight, yet powerful pistol that I could easily conceal into a pocket, and carry everyday, this CM9 is it!

So far flawless performance from my newly acquired 9mm that I picked up for myself last month for Xmas (thx Santa ;)
I paid $330 online- at buds gun shop. I've fired over 400 rounds of S&B (FMJ 115gr) thru it so far, without any hiccups or issues at all. The 200 round break in was done in one range session, plus another 100 or so for good measure. I've also fired a few defense rounds of Hornady's Critical Duty 135gr +p thru it, which also fed absolute perfect. 👍

Other than my shooting hand getting slightly tender from that snappy lil devil that day, lol..it ran 100% perfect, no fte's, no problems to report. I hear that it gets better the more you shoot it? Is this true?
It's my "walk the dog" at night pocket carry. Fits well in a jacket or jeans pocket. It also fits very nicely in a small covered storage compartment in my car, under the radio, almost like it was made to be in there. 😃

I've also added a Lasermax laser, as well as a Pearce grip extension for the 6 round mag. Also picked up a few 7 rounds kahr mags (on Ebay) & they too work great. It's sits nicely in a grippy lil Desantis pocket holster that was given to me from a very nice gentleman from here with whom I didn't even know. Good karma for him! 😊

Am I very happy with my first baby Kahr 9mm you ask? Yes indeed good sirs, I'm absolutely very happy with my new pocket rocket! 👍👍

P380 - bought used - never any issue at all until I wore out the recoil springs. Replaced them, flawless since. Totally reliable gun.

CW 380 - new - just couldn't resist that Kentucky Gun Co sale. Just yesterday was finally able to get to a range for a first break-in:

A few hiccups in first 20 shots. No jams but 2 ftrtb, a ftf and a premature lock back. After that no more problems in a total of 66 rounds using only the mag it came with. Ammo - box of magtech fmj, 6 crappy Blazer steel case (no issues), 10 rounds of Hornady CD (no issues.) It's dead nuts accurate, and easy to shoot. I let a young lady, who never fired any gun before, try it. She was there with her boyfriend who coached her. She took it very slow and amazingly hit spinners at 45' with about half her shots. No problems at all when she shot it. I'm thinking positive, but will clean it up and go back today and try with other mags and ammo, to be sure. I cannot believe a gun this fine was that price.

ADDENDUM: perfect today 3 diff mags different ammo, just bang bang bang. CW380 is good to go.

P9 Covert (2004)(around 3,000 rounds) no problems. K9 (2005)(sold a few years ago with regret) no problems. MK9 (2012)(close to 1000 rounds) no problems. K9 (12/14)(a little over 400 rounds) no problems. Of course, when I say "no problems" I do not include any failures during break-in. I cannot recall as to the 2 older guns whether there were any break-in failures, but I doubt it. No break-in issues with the MK9. As to the new K9, I had 1 failure to feed at around the 80 round mark and none since then, and I now have over 400 rounds through it.
My overall experience tells me that Kahrs are great.

What is the difference between a P9 and P9 Covert?

P9 covert has the same grip length as the PM9 with the standard 6 round magazine. Kahr used to have them available in that configuration some time ago. The rest is essentially the same.

Thanks for the clarification. I bet that is a neat pistol.

You are very welcome. It is a pretty nice set-up that I bought new in 2004.

My cm9 is pushing 2000 rounds. No failures even during break in. Best handgun I own. In fact, I recently picked up a glock 19 g4. I like this pistol too, but it's not as forgiving of poor shooting form as the cm9. The g19 stovepipes when my girlfriend limpwrists it, and it has stovepiped on me when I practiced one hand drills. Also, some lighter target loads won't cycle the action.

I have a love-hate relationship with my cw45, but that's outside the scope of this thread.

Yeah. .45cal is a stretch for a small gun platform (not just Kahr). But I do think Kahr does it well. Once it's broken in right, it's a keeper.

I'm jealous of all you folks that have had zero problems from the get go. Is there a hidden set of stickies that I don't know about? I've had issues with all 3 Kahrs that I've broken in, the CW40 though was I think ALL my fault, as it was my first polymer pistol, and had to learn to shoot a little different, than with my all metal semis.
My CW45 had to go back to the mothership when the trigger quit doing anything at all. Causing them to "rework of the right side of frame and slide" whatever that means. it was pretty dang reliable after it came back, but would not shoot from the 7 round magazines. I sent it back for that too a couple times, and they sent it back saying it worked fine. Well it did if you only loaded 3 or 4 into the mag. I tried to explain that the issue was with a full mag, but I don't think they ever read my note I included when sending the pistol back, or looking at the notes that Ian or Eon, or whatever his name is took down. At least they paid the shipping both times.
My CM45 is going pretty well, a few jams, nothing major. My last few magazines went really well. Too bad the range got crowded with more people than I could keep an eye on, and I left.
I need to have a buddy come out and shoot from inside my small barn out the back door and see how noisy it is outside. Then drive down the road a bit and see if I can tell where the shot's are coming from. If it's quiet enough and I can't tell where the shots are coming from, I'll move my berm closer to the back of my barn and shoot from there. After I got annexed into a small town nearby, I am only allowed to shoot shotguns, IF I have at least 5 acres. I do have the 5 acres. ALL I got after being annexed was higher taxes and trash bill, and the right to rent some of the town's buildings and use some of it's services. At least most of those jerks on the city board were voted out the next election. I wonder if you keep some cartridges loaded with birdshot handy if the cops would consider that a shotgun if they ever came out. Probably not.

Count me in the small Kahr lovers. P9 I bought used has never had a single issue. Got a CM9 for Christmas, and put 200 rounds through it on my first time out. One odd failure to feed, where the rounds got stuck partway down in the magazine. A quick smack to the bottom of the mag, and it moved up just fine. Was probably due to a a dirty mag as it was one of the last few rounds. My P380 was the roughest of the bunch, but it never needed a trip back to Kahr. Just a lot of love, and about 5-600 rounds to really have it all running smoothly. After that though, it's been flawless for the next 500. Completely reliable after the looong break in. Some people don't want to put in the time. But, having owned the kel-tec p3at, I'm glad to have put the time in on the P380, as it is a much smoother shooter and ridiculously easy to carry.
