Had a separate thread regarding the Blemished model K9. Picked it up yesterday. Inspected it at the gun store to make sure no issues. Bud's Gun shop online from where the gun was delivered to the LGS apparently will let you reject it at their expense of shipping it back to them, if there is an issue. It came with 3 magazines, 2-7 rounders and an 8 rounder, as well as a lockable case. Everything looked fine, and I could not see any specific "blemish". I did notice that the slide had a slight overhang over the frame at the rear; but thought nothing of it (my MK9 is the opposite where the frame is out past the slide at the rear). Didn't take the slide off due to the difficulty involved. Gratefully accepted the K9, paid my $15.00 transfer fee and was on my way with my new K9 which I had been able to determine through Kahr that it had a born-on date of June 2014.

Cleaned it and took it out to the range. Temperature was 5 degrees, but the sun was out, and I had to try it out (couldn't wait, just like a kid). Ran 100 rounds through it. The first 50 were Fiocchi and they ran without a hitch. The second 50 were Blazer Brass and all ran perfectly; except one at around 83 or so rounds into the break-in. I attribute it to either poor grip and/or just simple break-in. ( I had racked the slide a few times before taking the K9 out).

Took it home and cleaned it as I was drooling over it, but then I noticed a slight disturbance of the metal at the slide stop opening (square one) on the frame. I also noticed a couple of corresponding slight disturbances on the front of the slide where the recoil spring fits, but on the outside. I thought and hoped it was just normal wear that would not progress any further. I took off the grip and inspected the entire pistol and saw no other possible issues, to my knowledge.

Had to take it out again today, again in 5 degree temperature. Ran 100 rounds of Federal Champion and all ran perfectly. I had placed blue marker on the slight disturbances of metal in the areas described above. There was no removal at all of blue where the slide stop area was, so I doubt that disturbance is going to get worse. As far as the other 2 spots, the blue was smeared from oil; but upon close inspection, they did not seem to progress, so I doubt those are going to get worse.

Interestingly, I was expecting to find the "B" mark for "blemished" on the trigger guard as described in other Karh Talk threads. I did not. The "B", actually 2 of them (one was partial) was located inside the slide, between the muzzle and the slide opening, where the barrel hood rides. I wonder if the 2 disturbances on the slide, or the one at the slide stop opening mentioned above were the "blemishes", and I did not notice them upon initial inspection, just don't know.

I am very pleased with the K9. Only one failure to feed during the 200 round break-in. It was extremely accurate insofar as putting the shots in a small group; however, I have to get used to the tritium sights since my groups were low. It is a beautiful pistol. What's not to love?

Sounds great. Nice report. I think I should order one too.

Thanks for the report. I seriously doubt the issues are anything other than slight cosmetic issues. It's also unlikely they will get any "worse" due to use other than the fact that any finish will show wear with use.

According to Kahr, "blemished" simply means a minor visual imperfection or defect that won't effect function.
By the way, I forgot to mention that I submitted to Kahr for a $50.00 E-Gift Card per the promotion they were running for Premium series new Kahr pistol purchases made from 11/19/14 to 12/31/14. I already received the gift card. That's what I call excellent customer service. Haven't used it yet. Trying to decide what to buy.

Thanks, and yes you should. Dealing with Bud's was easy. They are also very polite on the phone. I would definitely buy from them again.

Buds is a great place to deal with despite some negative reviews here and there. My take is with the amount of business they do there is bound to be someone who is not happy for whatever reason.

I bought my CT9 from them and the transaction was flawless (used the layaway program, what a great fee free service)

I put a blemished P9 on layaway a day or so ago. Great price (offered 10 less and was accepted) so this was a no brainer for me. If I didn't just pick up a next to new 1996 model at a LGS for a can't not buy price, I'd probably get a K9 from Buds like you did.

Not sure if you newer K9 has the lighter trigger or same heavier trigger that mine has but I just love the pull and feel of the K9 trigger. I think I shoot that gun better than any of my other Kahrs including the CT9

Congrats!

2tango2, I find the trigger to be pretty light and actually simply great on this K9. Bud's has some great deals on those "blemished" models. I actually can't stay away from checking out the Kahr section regularly. But, I need to stay away.
If you are like me, I hate to wait; however, it will most likely be well worth the wait on your layaway. Of course, it is hoped that you give us a range report once received.

I think the older ones have the NYPD trigger in them...I sort of like it...the trigger is SO smooth on my K9 where my CT9 has a little bit of grit in it (pretty sire it is the trigger bar and spring)

I do hate to wait...I'll probably have it paid in a month...just seems less painful only putting down so much at a time lol

I certainly will be back with a RR

More range news. Very pleased with this K9. Put 115 rounds through it today in more pleasant temperatures, around 20 degrees. 20 rounds of Fiocchi, 80 rounds of Federal Champion, 10 rounds of 124 grain Gold Dot and 5 rounds of 124+p Gold Dot. No malfunctions whatsoever. Also brought my shots up closer to where I was aiming. Also hitting plates on a plate rack with no problems at 25 yards.

Took his little brother out too, the MK9 and put 50 rounds through it. Now has about 980 rounds through it. It has run perfectly from round 1. I think I like the K9 better; but I really don't know. They are both gems. The way to perfect the MK9 would be to have the same soft grips as the K9. Why Kahr does not do so is beyond me.

Thanks leftysixty. I do intend to hold on to this one. I previously sold a K9 a few years ago, and I was regretting it until now.:)

Picked up my K9 today. It was also a blem, bought through Grabagun. I ordered on the 31st, as in the post above, and it had been at my FFL since Tuesday. It is a beautiful pistol. I don't have time to mess with it today. Looks like I don't even have to align any witness marks to take it apart. Soon...

Great. Let us know how it runs. By the way, I don't think they currently have the witness marks on the K9. You just line up the slide stop with the opening in the slide just like explained in this Kahr video (located near the bottom right of the page): http://www.kahr.com/

Thanks. I have some new pistols to try out, I haven't shot the MK9 yet either. All fun, when the weather gets above the thirties!

I've owned both MK9 and K9. Did not like shorter grip on MK9 since pinkie hung free - bought Pearce grip extension - that solved the pinkie problem.
MK9 looks and is compact / small - I compared and measured size of MK9 and K9 side by side - by the numbers there is not much difference at all.
Sold the MK9.

My issue is not with the lenght of the grip. I just like the feel of the softer grips on the K9. Don't think I will ever sell my K9 or Mk9. I do need to get out and put some rounds through them. :)

I'm absolutely in love with my new stainless K9 w/nightsights.. Bought it new from Bud's gun shop online... Without doubt it is THE smoothest, sweetest pistol I've ever shot...
