Howdy all,

Got my new CW380 today from my FFL, here's how she came in the box:

I have four different types of ammo to break it in with (To Start):

And now I'm off to clean and polish! :Amflag2:

ETA @ 1:23pm: Went ahead and got it broke down, cleaned every bit of it up, polished the feed ramps and the barrel, and have re-assembled. Can't get to the range for a little bit yet, so I'm going to rack the slide around 500 times and get the springs broke in a bit.

Small update...

Went out and shot 100 rounds through it... I shot 50 of the Winchester White Box, and 50 of the Winchester Train & Defend ammo. With each of these, I had two failure to return to batteries, and one failure to feed. Neither of these problems occurred right after the other, they were sporadic somewhere in the middle of the box. The failure to return to batteries I can probably blame on me not taking time to recover after each shot and "rapid firing". I also, somewhat blame the failures to feed on me bumping the slide stop ever so slightly. In my opinion they occurred too randomly for it to be the bullets to be the cause.

Each magazine was loaded to 6, used the slide release to load each magazine, then they were topped off with another round for 6+1 rounds.

I did not slingshot the slide, I used the slide release the whole time, and had no issues with that.

She's fairly dirty now, but I have 100 more rounds to shoot before I clean her again! I'm satisfied with my purchase!

Congratulations and it's early yet. These little guys take a little while to break in. I had a few hiccups in the 1st 100, been solid ever since(only 500 rounds total). Sounds like you've got good one. Enjoy.

Congrats on your new .380. A reliable .380 will be a joy to own.

Never broke a gun in without cleaning after each 50 rounds. Is there some advantage to leaving it dirty for the entire 200 round break-in?

Good question. Never had to truly "break in" my old Springfield or my current Glock... I mean, I threw a few hundred rounds of ammo through them, but I didn't have to clean either... looser tolerances...

I did go ahead and break it down quick and clean it again just now...

New380: Congratulations. As you can see in my signature, I have two Kahrs and a third on the way, so I can say from my experience and a lot of reading, that Kahrs are more finicky than most other major brands and require more attention to detail than others. Theres ample info on ways to fluff and buff, file a bit here and there, and keep them wet. This has worked well for me and I have sufficient skills to do these things. If one expects perfection right out of the box, you're liable to be disapointed. You did your homework and it paid off. Let us know how future sessions go.

Thanks! Regardless of what happens, for the price I paid on a late black friday sale, I'm not out much lol.

Pretty much the way I feel also. Just bought a CW9 for $328 + 15 FFL fee. Best LGS price in my area is $400 OTD.
