Dry Fire Khar Pistols?

Is it alright to dry fire a Khar pistol? I was going to buy some snap caps but some of the guys advised that it was not necessary with any of the newer brand pistols. I want to practice grip, finger placement and pull with my Khar pistols.

It's ok to dry fire a Kahr pistol, but recently a few people have experienced broken strikers. It always safe to dry fire with snap caps. With Kahr pistols you only have to move the slide back about 3/8 of an inch to reset the trigger.

The ones I've seen were all .380s. I don't remember broken strikers in other calibers. Of course, what I don't remember...

Yikes! So that would mean that dry firing my CW380 is NOT a good idea?

Dry firing your CW380 is a great idea. There isn't anything wrong with doing it. You have to do it as a part of the take down procedure. If you decide to do it a lot buy some snap caps as extra protection. You'd wear a raincoat in a house of ill repute wouldn't you? Kids!

So that's not just me. I check it about 4 times more than I fire it.

I guess that means you never dry fire them 😊

Only when I field strip them for cleaning. When you fired as many rounds as I have dry firing isn't necessary. I've been shooting for sixty years with zero negligent discharges, knock on Jocko's head. :)

That reminds me of a passage in a book about WWII, where the standard joke among the Marines about to storm the beaches was, "Don't forget your rubbers!" They weren't talking about their galoshes.
