Does anyone else here have the newer style enhanced trigger model Kahrs like I do? I bought a P9 and a PM40 and both have the same enhanced trigger and external safety. Couldn't ask for a better trigger system. I just don't here much talk about them on the forum here.

I have seen a few others post about them. I prefer the DA, non-safety trigger for a carry gun. Since that what Kahr has mostly sold over the years, it is likely most of the other folks feel the same way. But, keep talking up what a great trigger it is. You'll get more converts!

The reason mine needs an external safety is because I live in Ma. and they require a 10 lbs. trigger but if it has a safety it can be 7 lbs.. I think it's the smoothest stock trigger I've ever felt.

Don't have to really talk it up it speaks for itself

I don't think many of us have ever seen one in person.

And surprisingly, the safety being "backwards" with down=safe and up=fire makes a lot of sense when you have the gun in the hand.
It's easy to flip it up with the inside edge of your thumb as you grip the thing, and takes more effort to put the safety back on. It would've needed a larger switch if the goal was to sweep down with the thumb, which would've required a good deal more of dexterity considering the size of the gun.

Pardon my ignorance. I'm new to Kahr and semi-autos in general. I now have a CW9 and CM9 purchased new over the last few months. I am not clear about "the newer style enhanced trigger" you mention. Was there a previous trigger from Kahr? How are they enhanced? I don't know how they could be any better than what I have.

I have the PM9193 and love it. I have 225 rounds with no failures and the trigger is awesome. I just replaced the sights with three dot trijicons and plan on testing the difference tomorrow. I could not adjust to the dotted I sights. My only complaint is the mags not seating flush. I find that tacky.

A lot of us diehard Kahr fans have never tried the "safety" models. It pretty much goes against what (I personally) prefer in a carry piece = simple operation to deploy = no safety. But I'm sure they are fine. And certainly better than having to buy a Glock or an XDs .....:D

Answ: a little bit shorter trigger with the addition of a safety and a loaded chamber indicator.

Thanks for the explanation b4uqzme. I'm sure Kahr wouldn't continue to offer them if they didn't sell, but, personally, I wouldn't want a safety and don't need a loaded chamber indicator, although other guys like them and I won't fault their likes and dislikes.

They were developed to meet restrictions in MA and CA. I've never seen a Kahr with a mechanical safety in my state.

I own a PM9193 also. I specifically looked for this model, due to the trigger difference. (which is 1/8" less take-up/pre-travel) Owned a CM9 in the past, and just couldn't get use to the longer trigger pull. (but really enjoyed the compact size/performance)

Kahr sells it as their Massachusetts compliant model. Being in Texas, I only saw/fondled one prior, and spent almost a year looking at online sources to finally grab the one I now own. Only the 2013+ mfg PM9193's have the different trigger. At the time (over a year ago) that's what made it a difficult critter to find outside of MA. I had to call Kahr directly (and ask them to check the serial#) to confirm the manufacture date of the one I now posses.

While 1/8" doesn't sound like much, it definitely makes a difference.

Ill have to agree that 1/8" makes a huge difference. Plus it's smooth and consistent.

The safety lever is tiny, you can obviously choose to never use it. You can do everything to this gun with the safety off, rack the slide, disassemble it, etc. It never needs to be put on safe if you don't want it to.
The loaded chamber indicator is an eyesore because it's accompanied with engraved text describing its function.

However, the shorter trigger pull (and consequently shorter reset) is worth putting up with the LCI, in my opinion.

I doubt we'd have many takers if the situation was posed differently- would you remove a LCI if it would also increase your trigger pull/reset?

Seriously don't think if one was pointing a handgun at someone they would even notice the LCI. And if they did they would obviously notice you were pointing a loaded handgun at them. Doesn't bother me one bit

As for the safety I use it but when I say walk into a convenient store or somewhere where I would feel I need it I switch it off

It would be cool to be able to swap out for the black slide but Kahr has not responded about feasibility.
