Anyone else had a follower break? Shot five rounds from my PM 40 but the slide didn't stay back on the last round. Reloaded same thing. Checked the follower and yup broken. Called Kahr said they would send one right out. Great customer service

Yes, the follower broke on my CM .40. They sent me a new one and it hasn't broke since after several hundred rounds.

Not that I'm in a hurry but how long did it take to get? Kahr is only about 45 minutes from my place.

I sure wish that Kahr would make their magazine followers out of metal. I think that they would be more durable.

What Kahr needs to do is insure that there is enough clearance between the feed ramp and the follower. The plastic followers are just fine.

Not fine if it fails. Not that it's a huge issue but it's something that shouldn't happen

I have 18 mags for my CW40, and they get used a lot. I have broken one follower, and I did that with a mag loader. I believe that it was a HKS loader, loading the first round it would put the follower in a bind.

I use a UPLULA loader now, no more troubles.

If you put the new follower in, I would think it would just break again unless you increase the ramp/follower tolerance. You can check by field stripping and putting the barrel back onto the frame (no slide). Then insert a magazine and observe if the feed ramp touches the follower. If so, file back a bit of the ramp until it doesn't touch. Polish and done.

It took a week for them to respond to my email but once they did it came within a few days.

I bought a used PM40. All 3 of the mag followers were bad on an otherwise good condition gun with only 300 +/- rounds through it. But who knows where it had been stored here in the Phoenix area heat. With a phone call, Kahr put replacements in the mail to me free. They said if the new ones broke, then send the gun in to be checked. My recollection is that I got them in 7-10 days. Shot many hundreds of rounds through it with no further problem with the followers through the time that I sold the gun.

Broke another today. From what I've been reading it has a design flaw. Another on its way

I'm not sure I'd call it a "design flaw" but, yes, there is a very tight tolerance there between the feed ramp and the follower. If this has happened more than once, the routine is to send the gun back to Kahr for repair. They will take care of it.

Thanks that's exactly what they said. If I break another Ill do just that. Thanks

Spoke to them yesterday about a broken one on my CW9 and got same reply; "if it happens again, send it in". He confirmed it was caused by follower hitting the lower end of feed ramp. I had previously taken off a bit of mine but looked at it again very carefully and could see it still would just barely touch, or almost. So I took off some more.

You can see, if you lock open the slide and insert the mag, that the bullet is way above the lower ramp, almost directly in line with the chamber. The lower end of the ramp serves no purpose. I did the same with my CW380 shortly after getting it.

Would seem to me that Kahr would make the barrels with a shorter ramp to begin with, along with making a metal follower.
