Ducked into an LGS and he had a couple of 9mm and .40cal carbines in stock. For $339 you can get one all fore-railed up with a flashlight and a recoil stock. And for $50 more you can get one with a scope. I've always thought they were ugly but, with the rails on there, these looked pretty nice.
Are those good deals?...and
are those decent carbines? I've read good things about them and not much bad.
I've been wanting a sub2000 but they are rare and way overpriced.
This will be a truck gun.
Anyone sell hi-cap mags for them?
Thanks,
Mag selection is limited. Pro-Mag makes aftermarket mags which hold 15 rds in 9 & 40; 14 rds in 45.
Price is reasonably in line with what I've seen here. $299 or so for a base configuration. As noted elsewhere, I'm in the market for a 9mm carbine. After looking at/handling the current Hi Point I've written it off. As with wimmen, within reason a bit of ugly doesn't bother me...I'm a function over form sort. But I'm also a higher end, quality buyer these days and these just don't feel right, won't work for me.

I own a Hi Point 4595 45acp carbine. runs flawlessly. Accurate to boot. I know people that have 1000's of rounds thru them with 0 malfunctions. The look isn't for everybody but if you want a pistol caliber carbine for plinking, short range target or home defense, hard to do any better for the money. The have the best customer service anywhere. Lifetime (of the gun) guarantee. no matter what happens to the gun, send it to them and they will fix or replace it at no charge. They usually will send an extra mag for your trouble. I bought mine used for $299 I will add a foregrip in the future. Today I picked up a 3-9x40 scope for it. Just a load of fun to shoot.

Some years ago I bought a HP 9mm Carbine and it never gave me any problems with the factory mags. It managed to get itself stolen in 2011 along with a large number of pistols. The pistols have come dribbling back, four out of fifteen so far, but the carbine remained among the missing. Two years or so ago I replaced it with the HP carbine pictured below, this time a 45. Although I have put less than 500 rounds through it, it has been 100% and accurate out to 50 yards which is the limit of my range.
BTW, I tried a couple of those ProMags 15 rounders when I had the 9mm. They lived down to their reputation - in other words, they were terrible.

I saw a Korean-made drum magazine for the .40 S&W at the gun show today. It's for Glock double-stacks as the G22 and 23, or the 27. It looked like the same company that made the decent 50(55 in test loading) round drum for 9mm Glocks. A .45 ACP would be welcome, but I have the Kriss G30 conversion that gives me 30 rounds for Glock .45's. The Kriss is totally reliable... kits made by MagPul... for the Kriss sub-machine gun.
A Glock magazine based carbine is the way to go for high-capacity magazine options.
Here's my post on the Kriss conversion kit. It also works for the 10mm since the Glock doublestack tubes are the same size for 10mm and .45 ACP.

That may be a more reliable option than the ProMag which seems to be hit or miss.
