Thinking I needed a CC weapon with higher capacity I sold my K40 several years ago and regretted it ever since. Went to my local gun shop last week to order a new Black K40 and was quoted a price of $805. Knowing the SS version was a little less expensive I asked the clerk to check the price and was astonished to get a price of $550. It appears his supplier had 17 on hand and wanted to get rid of them. Picked up the SS pistol on Monday - took it to the range and right out of the box managed to obliterate the bullseye at 10 yards. I know firearms pricing in my area (Northern VA) are generally higher than other parts of the country, but I think I got a good deal on an awesome pistol.

I'm feeling a little guilty about letting my K40 sit in the safe. I may have to put my CW45 away and pull Black Beauty out of the darkness.

First, congratulations on getting one heck of a deal. The K40 is literally one of the best handguns out there. The size is perfect for CC, considering the caliber. It feels great in the hand, and is incredibly accurate with the right ammo.
It is one of my fav five handguns and it's with me more than any other gun I own. For me, I carry it on my left hip without a holster (I don't recommend it for everyone, it just works for me) and it feels as though it was custom made just for me. Many times overlooked in the present climate of plastic wonder weapons, but for you it worked out great.
If you haven't guessed it, I'm a big fan of the Kahr K40.

Congratulations! You got smoking deal IMO. My K40 has been my primary off-duty weapon for some time now and I regard it as an excellent balance of size and punch. The fact it fits my hand like it was custom made for me is icing on the cake.

Congrats. I love my K40 Covert although I've pondered selling it and getting a K9 or 40 with a full length grip. Regardless, it's been an accurate and dependable weapon.

Just to pass along my personal little secret (I'm sure I'm not the first). I put a small Hogue slip on grip over the already Hogues. It matches because of the material and once you get them on, they grip to one another with no movement. Now I have finger grooves and a little extra Cush. It's worked get for me and the purchase on the grip is amazing.

One of the reasons I like the K40 is the steel grip allowing installation of a Crimson Trace laser grip. If I didn't need the laser I'd consider your setup.

Here's more love for the K40. Picked up one last week with night sights and 3 mags for $580 plus tax. As of yesterday have put 207 rounds through it. Mix of FMJ and JHP. Flawless!
