If you are looking for a K40 ( I personally would only go with the 9mm), there is a great deal at Bud's for a factory blemished model. If I liked .40, I would already have purchased it. To each his own. Here it is:

That price really makes me happy with what I paid for my K40! I knew it was a great price when I got it but I didn't know exactly how great of a price it was until now.

Bought mine used from Cabela's with my employee discount when I worked there. Ended up being around $350 as I recall.

^^^^ I always had the opinion that Cabela's was overpriced but I've been checking one lately and find the used prices aren't bad and they will negotiate on used guns. There's some hard-to-find stuff in their Gun Library too. I might have to fill out an application.

Despite your utter steal AJ, that Buds deal is a good one for someone looking for a K40. I personally like the K40 even better than the K9.

While I worked there I bought what some might call more than a few firearms. Only a few were new. If I had an itch to buy a specific firearm, all I had to do was wait for it to come in the store. As an example, I had decided I needed a Ruger Single-Six convertible, blued with wood grips and the 6 inch-ish barrel. Took six months for one to come in but it was exactly the one I wanted.

Buying used firearms from Cabela's is also no risk, providing you bring anything back within 30 days of purchase. I only had a problem with one rifle I bought and brought it back. They sent it out to a gunsmith and a couple of weeks later I had it back in full functioning condition.

Another great thing about buying any firearm from Cabela's, new or used, is that you can put them on layaway. Best part of this for me was I was able to buy firearms without the wife ever knowing what the money was going towards as I was always buying stuff in the store. She thought I had more than enough firearms when I only had about 8-10!

My wife doesn't have a clue as to what's in my gun safe. She also doesn't have the combination.

I told my wife the combo when I first got the safe. I don't think she remembers it but she did see what all is in there. Not sure if she chose to ignore what she saw or if she finally accepted that I bought a few more firearms. I will say that she was a bit upset when I bought her a Sig P238 to replace her Beretta Mod 80 until she finally held it and then went out and shot it. And we still have the Beretta.

But more to the point, I want my wife to have the combo. God forbid if something was to happen to me, I'd want her to have access to the safe. We have more in the safe than just my firearms but the firearms are the most valuable items in there. Well, the safe itself cost a pretty penny, too! Certain firearms are to be passed down to the family while most she can sell if she needs to. I've written down what goes to who and what she can do whatever she wants when I'm gone. I've seen too many family members come in to sell off all of the firearms a loved one collected over the years because no one in the family is a "gun person".

I'd suggest getting a safe deposit box at you bank and putting important documents (Wills, Trust Documents, Financial Information (including your secret Swiss bank account number), and the combination to your safe. Make sure your wife and the named executor of your estate are on the approved access list.

I have had a K40 for awhile now and would not have anything else. The knock down power with HP is far superior to the 9s. I reload and have tweaked my loads to group at 1" at 10 yards. Of course just my opinion.
