Why are people never happy with what they have. Why can't we be thankful for the wonderful selection of small weapons we have to choose from? Yet we buy one, then nit pick it to death. Our mags have to be flush, the slide release caught on something once so it needs to be redesigned, or the trigger is too long, or too short or to heavy or too light. Or a thousand other things we'd like to be different. Nothing off the shelf is going to be perfect in all ways for all individuals, so find the closest that meets your specs and improve what you can and adapt to what you can't.
Take all the posts about flush fitting mags. Are they absolutely necessary? Plenty of space has been devoted to eliminating that quarter inch of plastic sticking out the bottom of the pistol.
To me, it's more of a non-issue, except on my CM45, where I like the magazine pad with it's lip that enables me to get my pinky on the pistol, instead of hanging loose under it.
If a quarter inch pad at the base of a mag, makes you "print", I doubt that you have adequately concealed your weapon in the first place. If it bothers you for aesthetic reasons, then change it.
It was never a bother on my CW 40 and 45's. It gives you something nice to grab if your mag doesn't fall free, or if you want to grab it with your free hand and set it aside while you change mags.
It's nice that people have shown how to swap out the mag bases, and even magazines. I appreciate all the work that people do to make their Kahr's better for themselves and post results and how-to's. It is fun to tinker around with 1911 mags, and to get them to work in the Kahrs. And then post how you did it for others that may want to do the same. I don't know as I'd CC with an aftermarket mag, but for the range, why not. I have a 10 round 1911 mag I modified and it works better than Kahr's own 7 round mags did in my CW45. Many gun guru's say that for best reliability, use the magazine(s) that came with your pistol. Even as far as using a Kimber mag in a Kimber 1911, and not a Springfield, Colt, or even Wilson mag. Not that I've ever had a problem using quality after market mags on my 1911's, but I buy well known and well tested brands of magazines. Chip McCormick mags have never let me down, I bought a few 8 round mags and the've been reliable. Not the cheapest nor most expensive, but a well known brand that has proved reliable for me in my 1911's.
I'm happy with the Kahrs as they are for the most part, sights could be better, and the magazines could be better in some areas on some models, like breaking the baseplate and such, and we all have our wish list that we would like Kahr to address, some folks wishes are the opposite of others, adding a rail to the frame is one point that people are either for or against, with not much middle ground. I'm perfectly happy with my CT Laser equipped CM45, and my CM40, with the ported barrel. Both are quite capable of the task they were designed for. Enough shots in an easily concealed package to hopefully get you out of a close range encounter with someone intending to harm you or another innocent person. I added modifications that I thought would be useful, like the Laser on the .45, and the ported barrel on the .40 to help control muzzle flip. The laser allows well placed shots without using the sights, and the ported barrel allows for a bit quicker 2nd shot. Both are much more important to me, than whether the mag base is flush or not. I guess it all depends on the individual's priorities and concerns.
As for rails, if I'm going to mount a flashlight or whatever on a rail, it's probably going to go on one of my higher capacity pistols, or long guns, and not a Kahr. If you want to mount a laser on most Kahrs, you can get one from Crimson trace,, and probably others by now, that doesn't need a rail. I suppose a rail mounted one might work better if you wished to have one laser for several different pistols, but the laser is going to have to be re-zeroed every time you change firearms.
I can see a rail being a lot more useful on my 17+1 round M&P, or shotgun, or small rifle, than on a Kahr. The whole flashlight mounted on a weapon deal, is something I'd have to put much thought into. I think it makes more sense on a long gun where you need two hands to operate it, rather than mounted on a pistol, where you have a free hand with which to illuminate objects without covering them with the barrel of your firearm.
I wouldn't want to be outside at night checking something on my house, when my neighbor comes out to check me out and see what I'm doing, covering me with a flashlight mounted on his weapon. More than likely with his finger on the trigger.
And Amen to a K or MK 45.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Armybrat, if you did the work to make that magazine flush, of course it's going to look good to you. It doesn't matter to me whether it's flush or not.
If the mag were to get lodged in the pistol somehow, that doesn't give you much to work with to pull it out. I guess a key under the magazine lip would do the trick. Not something you would want to be messing with if someone were shooting at you.
Seems that most of my pistols that aren't 1911's have some sort of plastic deal at the bottom of the mag usually with a lip to hold your pinky onto the grip. This might not be needed on the CW9-45, but it comes in handy on the CM sized pistols.
It's cool that people have went out of their way to post the how-to's and shared their experiences in making the magazine flush for those that want to make one.

Some people like to tinker................some people like to try and improve. Me, besides an occasional grip change, or sight change, and maybe a polish here or there, I try to leave my firearms stock. If I wanted a different firearm, I would purchase one. There are plenty of options out there in firearms these days, and I really see no reason myself, to change any of them. If for instance, the fact that Kahr mags don't fit flush, really bothered me, I would get a different firearm, or I'd learn to live with it. Plenty of base lip to grab on that flush mag if it got stuck, but as it is it drops free easily. It should carry better whenever I get an IWB holster for it.
My Springer 1911 is quite the flush fit too. 104 year old design still works for me.

Yeah, if the mag don't fly out near fast as the bullets that's one of the first things I screw with. Polish, wax, pinch in the vise, put it in and out 300 times.
I consider it my last Hail Mary shot, the empty magazine to the forehead. Never had to use it so far so no idea if it's a viable plan or not.

I've never understood why some people think that a gun that was designed to be carried concealed needs to look pretty. The only one who is going to see it is the perp and he's only going to get a second or two to look at it. Tinkering is just another way of saying pissing your money away. :)

Oh my misguided little Muggsy.... it's entirely possible to be efficient and still look cool.
Looking cool is always job 1.
I used to coach baseball and I'd always emphazise how looking cool is job 1.
I'd much rather have a shiny corvette parked by the house with no engine than a new Prius that runs perfectly and get a bajillion miles to the tank. Even if I have to take the bus.
Beauty and cool seem to run hand in hand with functional and efficient too.

Two different bits there. Form follows function. Tinkering that improves function is not a waste. Slim Wilson grip panels and tactical thumb safeties on my 1911's just happen to look nice, but that's not why they're there. For a carry gun, black is beautiful, mostly flush mags are a benefit, and unneeded ambi thumb safeties are an unnecessary hazard.

Okay, explain me. I have a shiny Corvette and a shiny MB SLK parked in my garage. For ten years there was also a shiny Prius in the driveway and now there's a shiny Ford C-Max Energi parked there that gets 2264 miles on 12.5 gallons of gas.

The 181 is accurate. I bought the car in July and got a full tank. I had to refill the last week of November with 2264 miles and it took 12.5 gallons. The computer said I was getting 162 but it was actually a bit better.
There may be a slightly smaller, mid-engined Corvette coming out in the next 12-18 months. It's to be called the "Duntov" and will still have a Chevy small block. It will be sold alongside the C7.
Thanks, I like the SLK too. I drove the SSR for a year and, although it was a seriously cool vehicle, it wasn't much fun to drive. It was too big, heavy, and ponderous, and even a 400 HP LS2 engine couldn't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. The one thing I did like was the retractable hardtop, hence the SLK. It's small [not much larger than a Miata], light [aluminum and carbon composite body with magnesium and ultra high strength steel underneath], very agile, and surprisingly quick for only having 300 HP.

What a nice Merc. I'm driving a 97 E420 Sport, that is surprisingly fast. And comfortable with the features you'd expect in a Merc. It does have some thing's I'd like to upgrade as far as electronics, and the speed limiter that cuts off your power at 130mph, while the European models don't cut off until 155mph. I think the idea behind that is Americans won't make the effort to buy high speed rated tires, that are designed to be driven faster than 130. I'd also like update the Bose sound system to accept MP3 discs, which can hold hundreds of songs, instead of the standard Music discs, that hold 12-18 songs usually. The car handles as well as any thing I've driven, except for possibly my Fiat 124 spyder. It's been quite a fun car. MPG isn't it's strongest point, and requiring premium fuel, for high performance driving gets a little pricey, but it seems to do okay with mixing a half tank of premium, with a half tank of regular or midgrade, as long as you don't leadfoot it and drive conservatively. I've had it up to 120mph, and you would think it was cruising at around 85 mph. Not bad for a 265 CI motor (4.2 Liter), pushing out 275 ponies, and 295 pounds of torque. 0-60 times in the 6.5 second range, quarter miles in just over 14 seconds. Certainly not the fastest, but still a lot of fun for a 5 passenger car. It's sure been a blast when I've had a chance to hit some hills and twisty roads.

Nice car - if yours looks like that, congratulations. My SLK is governed at 155 but I replaced the P-Zero's with a new set of V rated AS3's
I too like the electronics in newer cars, especially the audio since I'm a music collector and play it in my car nearly all the time. All three of my cars have Nav, a 6 disc MP3 changer, and a USB input. The Energi also has I-Pod and memory card inputs, and the SLK has those, plus phone, other MP3 player inputs, and a 10 gig solid state HDD music registry. I usually play MP3 discs in the Corvette since I have about 35 discs and no other place I use them. That gives me about 1500 songs in the dash. I have 32 gig flash drives in the Energi and SLK with about 4000 songs on each. I put the system on "random" and it's unlikely that I'll hear the same song twice. Oddly enough, Sirius radio has been working on all three cars for at least six months, but I've never subscribed or paid for it.
BTW, the first car I bought when I moved to Atlanta was a 1970 124 Spyder. I think the best handling stock street car for it's time period I've even owned was a Lotus Elan.

Love those Jeeps, but a muffin pan for a seat in the cool Ford GT? ;)
It's supposed to be for ventilation. It's not the car's best design feature. Interior styling has changed a lot since 2005 (for the better, I think)... The mid-engine is right behind the driver and passenger, and it generates a lot of heat, so any ventilation is important.

I like the looks of it myself. Simple and useable. I'd love to sit in it and get my picture took.
